    Daystate MK3 PP3 battery

    Hi,
I own a Daystate MK3 with an expired battery and want to replace it with a PP3 which it appears a number of people have done. I've read a few threads and it appears the MK3 had several different t battery options. My pack looks like 5 AAA batteries in a Hexagon shape which I believe would be 7 x 1.2V = 8.4V so a PP3 rechargeable would seem to be perfect.
Has anyone actually done this on this configuration and confirmed it works OK? Also wondering on capacity how many shots they get on a charge. Thanks

I had 2 batteries in my mk3. I just replaced the standard batteries. I didn't open the packs up but looked like a number of button cells together in each pack, Personally for a 10 min job I would just change like for like. Its likely to be at least 5 years before the next change. Possibly a lot longer Only ever charged mine once a fortnight/month after I replaced them which I was using regularly at the time.

Thanks, I've come to the same conclusion myself as it will be a lot less hassle. I've found a direct replacement for around £30 and as you say this should last a few years

You could put a normal 9v battery in.
Overlander is where I go to get packs made up.

I think Strikalite do replacement battery packs (rechargeable) for around £30 - good company to deal with and the guy knows his stuff. Got one in my Airwolf (£30) and been faultless for nearly 2 years - around £80 from Daystate.

Just pull a slice of backing from the circuit board to access the solder holding the battery in. I used double sided tape to replace the backing. Just leave the backing on the outside of the tape. There was 2 batteries on mine, Each battery had 3 lugs soldered to the board. Hey if worst take it to your local TV repair shop. Bet they would solder it for a fiver, Unfortunately most gun shops won't touch it.

Thanks all for the replies. I'd seen that Strikalite had the batteries for half the price Daystate were asking. I'll get one from them. I actually need to replace the connector on the PCB as one of the pins was broken. The gun had been stored with the battery left in it and for some reason the pin on the connector got corroded and broke off when trying to remove the battery. There doesn't appear to be any other corrosion anywhere on the PCB so a new molex just needs soldering on. I can do that myself as I used to work with electronics.

I have been following this with interest. I have a MK3 FTR that has the 2 x 4.8v battery packs. I am told that it is possible to replace these with a 9v battery . But I also believe that some stock wood would need to be removed in order for this battery to fit. Is that correct?
I must admit that if and when I need to replace the battery packs I will just fit the same again.
    Cheers, Phil

Easiest option I think. I had 2 batteries on mine. 3 lugs on each battery to solder. As said earlier if in doubt take the board to a TV repair shop ,

Yes, as and when I am quite happy to fit the new batteries. I have also followed the posts about 'aftermarket' battery packs with interest but have not seen any of the 4.8v 600mAh (4 cell) packs (4/V600HR) offered, only the single packs that seemingly were used on later MK3 rifles.
    Cheers, Phil
