Thats my experience too, a well set up good Supersport is easier to shoot well than the FWB sport.
    Too many airguns!

The FWB Sport was a bit of a bastard to shoot, needing a consistent light touch to achieve the excellent accuracy it was capable of.

Not everyone could do it so more forgiving rifles can beat it in the average shooters mitts.

BSA SuperSports are the Wofie Smiths of that era, or at least members of the Popular Front.

    Don't!

You know your current situation is temporary. Once properly settled and all the jobs that need doing are done, you'll have the time to get back into your shooting.

I think the Supersport/Star are perfect weights for lugging about a field all day.

Light is good. Nice and easy to carry about around your permission for hours. Nice and pointable. But, all other things being equal, a heavier gun is generally easier for more people to achieve consistent accuracy with, with that extra mass helping settle the rifle on aim (the distribution of that mass is also key) and also reducing the effects of recoil and surge.

I found the above to be true of my FWB127 Mk II back in the day and also with a .177 SuperSport I bought in 1988.

The .22 SS I currently own shoots very benignly at full power with its TbT guides and cut down spring. Must get that trigger put back together.....

Weight is an issue for me as I carry the gun about and having shoulder issues from years of racing motorcycles I need something light, I also think most guys now only shoot at a range where the gun sits on bench so weight isn’t an issue and their targets don’t move so a heavy lump should help.
My absolute favourite is the 220 as its perfect for my needs, the recently acquired Omega is a bit heavy but I’ve decided to keep the old girl as the grandson will enjoy it, so that’s getting the Shauny treatment like the others.

I know what you mean, suffering from tendonitis myself.

But, going back to the late 80s, once I'd started FT shooting, when I was out rabbiting I'd always try and get into a sat position to take the shot where possible whereas, previously, all my shots were taken standing. And the extra mass does help with those shots taken sat......The only thing is, I used to be good at standers, now I'm hopeless!

All my shots now are standing and/or leaning on tree or post, my knees and back won’t allow kneeling or prone, and I’m just dabling with sticks at hft although that’s with a pcp.

Are you a member of the MAD Hft club in Maldon ?.
We have a few members who use the stick’s , I’ve got a set myself but find them awkward to use.

Can't stand close enough Les ?
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

Hi Les ... persevere. I bought my set (Primos Gen2) maybe two years ago because I was getting back pain when prone. When they arrived I tried them in the garden and thought 'These are awful (or words to that effect)' and told myself I could not use them. But my prone shots became so painful, including getting up and down being awkward that on one shoot I gave up half way through. So I determined to try the sticks again and after some determination I realised they were the way to go. I now always use them and am slowly getting better with them. Another advantage: no more elbow pads needed but I do find they are easier to manage if I have a sling on the rifle.

    Cheers, Phil

    Hi Les
Yes I am, but have missed a few months due to the last shoulder op, I will hopefully be back after the holiday period.

It’s the weird balance angle thingy .
They are not as easy to shoot with (not for me anyway), I need to practice with them more.

    Yes indeed, brilliant place 👍

I’ve found a bullpup feels better on sticks over a rifle Les, well for me anyway and keep the yoke as far forward as possible to stop the seesaw effect
