Can only find this one for sale....

    https://rangeandcountry.co.uk/precihole-athena-karbin/

I like the lines, the stock and the action are simple and well proportioned, like a cross between a Hammerli side-lever and a Prosport stock.

The price is quite good, tempted to take a risk on one, although not this carbine, the full length Minerva is about £200 I understand.

That second PCP appears to have a design weakness...
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

For anyone with a Classical education the names of some of those rifles are less than appealing.

Minerva was a great hit with the Roman military however, so perhaps it will appeal to those who have served.

Hurrah! No more cheaply made, nasty and cack, chinese imports!

I for one embrace this opportunity to buy cheaply made, nasty and cack indian imports* instead!

*a guess. They might be really well made, right?

The future of British engineering is assured as long as they start importing from third world countries

I am keeping an open mind, something that is quite painful because there's a draught and all kinds of rubbish can now get in.

It's not a situation with any precedent. The cheap Chinese guns have been with us since the 1970s (the Arrow and the Lion) and were made in Communist factories as trainers for their vast People's Army ... they went on to make the commercial guns but still with the volume and low cost as the main things. I don't know about Turkish guns, all I can think of is that they too had to make a lot of guns (the home market I think is pretty massive) and quite cheaply and maybe didnt get the kind of investment that a European company would go for. The Spanish have always knocked out cheap copies and cheap guns, it's what they've been doing forever.

The typical home market Indian guns have been rather crude copies of European guns sold at a necessarily low price as the average Indian income is about 20% of a UK one. However, this company 'PreciHole' (this word is practically an obscenity in Scottish) is a precision engineering company which makes computer controlled tools and so on. India has a space programme and nuclear weapons, so there must be talent there in the high end engineering sector. So if this company has made some air-rifles, then it may well be they are good ones. So it might be like airguns being made by Rolls Royce AeroSpace rather than some fellows knocking out Diana 35 copies in a garage.

Or they could be complete crap, because what does does an investment of £200 get you nowadays? A very secondhand HW35 and a TbT kit that is what ...

I was more lamenting another (the last?) uk air rifle manufacturer becoming just an importer of rebadged otherlings.

Can anyone name anything the UK actually does well now, apart from food banks?

It's got the highest animal welfare standards in the world. If you are a farm animal it's definitely the best place hands-down. Just don't expect a long retirement.

On a more serious note, it provides tertiary education that is valued all over the world. And the Chinese and Indian mums and dads don't have to worry so much about their student kids because it is still a relatively safe country to live in.

'Buying British' was quite a thing in the late 70s Airgun Worlds and lots of enthusiasts would write in and decry buying 'German' and they would talk up their BSA Mercurys etc. The emergence of FT completely knackered that myth, and it was a very long time before there was a British rifle that could actually reach the prize list, never mind win, an FT competition.

I thought it was weird Air Arms re-badging & selling the Czech guns like the S200. Surely making a cheaper version of the S400 would be the way to go? But I suppose they have limited money to invest, so buying in from abroad is one way to keep the spice flowing...

The S200 was a superb rifle for the money, extremely accurate, have AA had any input into these rifles or are they just an importer, it looks like they have the safety in the trigger guard, like Theoben and Gamo, so lets hope they ain't a copy of either of them, it will be interesting to see if they have the design features we all like.
Far too many rifles to list now, all mainly British but the odd pesky foreigner has snuck in

As I understand things, Precihole are making a replacement for the S200 for Air Arms.
Air Arms are the official importer and distributor for Precihole airguns.

I'll sit and observe for a while and reserve judgment. A little birdy did tell me that Air Arms were carefully quality checking and testing each and every gun prior to despatch. Very good for peace of mind and it's their reputation also at stake here. After a while, once they're happy with the on-going quality etc., I wonder if they will just perform batch / random testing?

The little break barrel pistol seems to have a HW70-esque vibe to it. If it turns out to be well put together and competitively priced, this traditional looking pistol deserves to do well; there are so few springer pistols to be had today.
