Just had a quick look at one - why are stock makers ruining stocks with a stupid great cut under the butt? It's as bad as the newer HW99S.

    Awful.

I had a look at the photo earlier, I can't tell if it has a threaded breech bolt or not ?.for the money that they are charging it should have one .

You know I love my Beezas but even I'm not overly keen on that, I agree with the comment above, what cuthalf the stock away.

It may look odd but it's becoming the norm. I guess the stock is made by Minelli, like the ones on the HW's and fashions change.
Personally I have grown to like the look.

And the barrel is to long for a Lightning

I don't dislike the looks. And I'm sure it will be nice and pointable and feel lovely in the hands. But I'm no fan of the scope rail and, no doubt, it will have a barrel pivot pin as opposed to a bolt. Even BSA aficionados seem to dislike these later springers. At this sort of money you'd have to be a seriously committed BSA fan....quite a lot more than a HW99 and getting into HW95 territory? But just a few tweaks here and there and it could be a belter, if only they'd let it.......

It'll be easier to cocking though, Pete.

Interestingly, it looks to have different barrel lengths in .177 and .22

Un interestingly, it looks to have BSA's usual barrel / breech arrangement, which is more than a bit offputting for me.
A breech bolt, would definitely help.

Seen mention that the barrel is threaded and I'd like to get that confirmed as it does give options for a reflex type silencer to get the length down.

Comb height looks to be a little low, especially with that huge bolt on scope rail, but I could be wrong on that. Not a mistake BSA have made in recent years on their rifles, but again, time will tell.

But they look to be doing their usual strategy of offering a limited edition on pre order. I'd like a walnut one, but I'd like to know a lot more about the spec, particularly the new trigger unit, before I'd dip in
They did the same with the Ultra CLX, with the LE walnut on the initial release. I did try to get one, but my RFD wasn't allocated one.
When the beech stocked ones hit the shop and I got to shoulder one, I felt like I'd dodged a bullet

Initial confusion as to whether power plant is a gas ram or spring, has that been clarified yet ?

But the Lightening has always had a 10" barrel Tone.

All RFD pre order ad's are quoting springer

It could be they initially wanted to make a rammer and have changed that decision. Could be the reason it's taken a year to get to market, following the release at last year's show.

    taken from elsewhere

Its Bsa's best yet and getting ever closer to matching HW, Minelli walnut and beech stocks, screw locking pivot pin, removable/adjustable transfer port, New bsa's own trigger, better quality mainspring after dropping the gasram version.

I think there was a chat on the AGF about the gun having a breech bolt set up,fingers crossed 🤞.

I've heard very good things about it. New trigger unit is meant to be very good 🤞
