Really looking forward to getting mine, can't wait!
I'll hang back until a proper review is out, then I'll look out for a second hand one.

Very sensible! My post was intended to be a bit tongue in cheek . I hope it does put BSA in the frame for choosing a decent spring break barrel though. I have an old lightning xl tac and it really is a nice little gun and very accurate despite the trigger. Certainly as accurate as my 99.

    Oh yes there is!
Hopefully they will be bring it out and it should be finished to higher standard than the BSA.

I brought an early Lightning XL at one of the bashes and I have to say it's a very nice rifle, very pointable and the trigger's pretty good as well, it needed a bit of a tune up but very hard to put it down once you start shooting it, a massive improvement over the first Lightnings.

They are in stock at Redbeck, and a fair bit cheaper than some other places too.

Trigger is said to be good but has a long first stage. Someone will have sussed that by this time tomorrow most likely.

Comes with a steel spring guide & piston sleeve but still a bit of twang apparently.

I'm intrigued by the two barrel lengths, I'm presuming they did a fair bit of trialing & experimentation to end up with this unusual two length thing. I'm presuming the TP thing is also to cater for the two different calibres

Looks like the .22 is a 10 inch barrel.

You're dead right, on the Goldstar it is definitely metal, on the Supersport it's the usual plastic - mine's a standard model.

Yes the standard Supersport has a plastic trigger blade but the SS Custom has the same trigger unit as the Gold/Superstar, which is alloy.

My Supersport has an alloy trigger.

Might not be what it left the factory with, bought it second hand, no idea how many owners it's had. Nice shot cycle though.

Anyway, I wonder if this new CLX has a 25mm piston or 28mm?

The earlier Lightnings and Supersports have 29mm pistons.

I’ll wait a while and go to Protek when they get them in stock, they’re pretty knowledgeable. I would really like to shoot one before I buy it though.

Yes very true, I'm getting confused with the Mercury/Airsporter innards.
