the infamous Weihrauch HW70 (black arrow)

Anyone has or fancies the HW70? I know the HW40/45 are popular but theyre illegal here (cause theyre replicas). You dont see them a lot. Especially not in countries that allow the HW40/45. Sechand very rare as well. Not much people seem to like them. I liked the looks of the HW70 black arrow so I wanted to try 1. Compared to the standard HW70, it has a barrelweight, no opens, but a sightrail. Theres also a brown arrow iirc.
.177 only. Its nice to shoot. Feels very sturdy. Well finished. Nice to grip. Trigger is unreliable though. No pressurepoint. But its light. Compared to the Diana LP8 magnum the HW70 is a kidstoy. Lol. :ROFLMAO: Other one is a webley tempest. Its stiff to cock with that short barrel. As heavy as the LP8 magnum.
Fitted the HW70 with Diana reddot. Shot some pellets at 5 yards. It didnt like JSB. The pyramidair review suggested JSB RS but it didnt like those. No luck with HN Excites either. Its very pellet picky even at such short range.
It loves RWS R10 4.49. Best group sofar. (2handed 5 yards)

I have a HW70. Brown handle and open sights. Not sure of the age.

Love it to bits. Very smooth firing cycle helps the fine accuracy. I've only tried RWS Geco and Hobby in mine - both very good.

Would highly recommend the 70.

I don't need drama.. my old gamo centre I learned to shoot with is hardly a looker.. but compared with the '70 it's a real supermodel !

I thought the later model Original 5 and 6 and the Feinwerkbau 65 and 80 looked absolutely superb, though.

I’ve always liked the HW70 and owned a few of them from a really early one to a quite recent one but I’ve never owned the Black Arrow version.

Quite fancy another one as I found the 70 really nice in use. Ok it’s looks can be subjective and some may say quite old fashioned looking but there is something about them that appeals to me.

Shame they are getting harder to find in the U.K. as the U.K. Weihrauch website no longer lists them so I’m guessing they aren’t very popular for the U.K. market.

Does anyone know the differences between old and new HW70s?
I heard the new ones have much more parts...are triggers the same?
I only noticed the recent ones having boring plastic stocks whereas the older ones have woodlook.

From what I remember the really early 70’s had a different piston seal which is now obsolete. I had a 1976 version and Weihrauch informed me that in order to get a new seal I would need to purchase a replacement piston as the later pistons use the usual 25mm closed face synthetic type seals.

I also vaguely remember that Weihrauch changed something on the cylinder end cap I can’t quite remember what they did but it was something to do with the end cap security on earlier models.

AFAIK the triggers are the same and as you mentioned the grips have changed material wasn’t it Bakelite originally?

I vaguely remember something about the safety catch as well.
