Great video and gets into the nitty gritty detail of lock-time and so on. Highlights that stock and trigger and important inputs too.

Just curious if a five shot group is sufficient for these purposes? Because; statistics.

The debate over 'accuracy is purely the relationship between the bore and the projectile' is an interesting one. I think that this is just one component of the accuracy potential, that of the just exactly what has been stated, the bore and the projectile. Unless shooting is being done from a clamped barrel - where is the fun in that? - the actual accuracy potential is that of the complete package as a rifle or pistol is ONLY used in the hands of a human. So a systems-level assessment ought to be made. For example, if you wanted a near-recoilless springer to increase your own particular accuracy with a rifle, you could add weight to it .. but only to a reasonable limit. A 25kg springer would sit very steadily on firing and give superb accuracy, but there are very few people who could bring such a rifle to aim.

This video illustrates that the rifle and shooter form a system that needs to be tweaked to get the best accuracy, it's not all about the bore and the pellet.

That 5 shot group is pretty representative of my rifle so I’m fine with that, and it was the only group I shot.
The other rifles were shot a couple of times and the groups were always similar.

For the flow of the video I wasn’t going to have loads of footage of shooting the targets, that gets pretty boring in my opinion.

I filmed the shooting parts back in the summer out of curiosity and it developed from there really.

I should have mentioned weight difference but didn’t weigh them at the time, surprisingly, without the scopes & mounts, my custom stocked Vortek 97 is only 100grams heavier than the listed black line thumbhole weight. Probably because Walnut is relatively lightweight wood. The standard black line 97 does feel deceptively heavy.

My scope is obviously heavier though.

    Cheers,

    Matt
