    Cheap but useful Chrono.

I got sick of the light sensitivity issues with my old Chrono and thought I’d take a punt at a cheap unbranded one off the auction site. Infrared version.

Arrived last week. Looks like a 12 year olds class electronic project, but actually works flawlessly.

You need to get past the hilariously bad instruction sheet, but after playing with it it’s great. Never misses a shot.

If you search for ‘Precision Ballistic Chronograph Airsoft Slingshot Bullet Arrow Velocity Meter’ you’ll find it. Great value - under £30.

Need to build a bit of a case for it now.

Lol.. that's looks a proper science project..

I got this one instead, and also works fine; less "science projecty" too: "Precision Ballistic Shooting Chronograph Air soft Rifle Bullet Velocity Meter"
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

I find the science project type has trouble with bits of paper from the back stop flying off and upsetting the reading.
No problem with more distance between the meter and the backstop.

Hopefully not a daft question, but do you shoot between the brass support rods, or through the "U" frame on top?

You can use it in one of several ways...

I have a HW100 so I use the U shaped wire clamp to attach it to the silencer.

I could lay the rifle in the V shaped trough with the chronograph on a table and shoot through it that way.

If your rifle has just the barrel then the chronograph will probably attach using the V shaped clamp top and bottom.

If after switching on the chronograph it displays FPS it is basically asking the question do you want to work in FPS. If yes immediately press the function button else it will work in MPS, metres per second.

    Hi

Shoot over the display, not through the brass supports - brass supports hold the infrared LED’s.

No issues so far on that score, Neil. Backstop is a couple of feet away though.

Ah, OK; under and at rt angles to the LEDs rather than under and parallel to them.

    Thanks

It's a bit out of focus but the rifle goes on the v block and that is where you shoot. You shoot under the display but above the bottom plate.

If you shot over the display nothing would happen, IMO.

They have got the HT-X3006 on there too, very compact & programmable for pellet size & weight but they are about 12 quid on Ali express, 27 quid on the bay of fleas
