But I am an airgun addict.

A few months ago I guessed I had about 38. The number stands at 44. A mixture of rifles (mainly HW springers) and pistols. Oops, sorry, pistols not counting? Nor 77s? Oooh, that'll knock about 14 off that number then!

Storage space reached its limit some time ago and funds won't allow anymore, so that's probably it for now.....

My numbers are creeping up. Some need fixing up, some were whimsical purchases but I have no use for them, there is some redundancy and also there's 'deselection reduction' to do.

The latter is where two different models of airguns fit the same ecological niche. For example at the moment the glided 97K needs assessing against the ProSport as the primary scoped full-power target springer in .177.

Yeah, that's what I've been applying... I don't need 10 different .177 springers to plink knockdowns rested at the club.
But I also apply the "how easy is it to replace" criteria....

So whilst the walnut TX200SR, the 22mm NickG TX, and a 24mm sleave down HW80 might all meet that same requirement, they are all tough / expensive to replace - so I have to keep all three

Bog standard stuff tends to get sold...But even my beloved Rapid went on the "how many .177 multishot PCPs do I need ?" criteria...
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

I can see why you might want to keep all three, for while maybe at the gross level they all do the same thing, they all reach that point by wildly different routes.. like an antelope, a kangaroo and a Przewalski's horse. If you are into the zookeeping aspect of airguns you can't lose any of these species.

I can't see the point in owning more than one PCP - they're all the same - and magazine rifles are just a faff.

Don't think of myself being "an Addict" but I'm not that far off your total Tony due to the last eighteen months or so where I've been a bit rash and that "spree" has had a knock-on effect on scope acquisition too.
However, I don't at the present time feel any need to off-load any but like yourself, space is becoming an issue and its not just "shoottery", I've also amassed a fair bit of fishing gear over many years with both rods and reels now residing in similar numbers along with the airguns. Names such as Hardy, Orvis, Sage attract my attention and only last week I saw and bought a superb Bruce and Walker Hexagraph salmon fly rod from a charity shop in Perth for a ton, same rod twenty five years ago would have cost five times that amount !

    And so it goes on....

About 19 short of 100? Most people could probably work their way up to that number but cabinet space starts kicking in at around two dozen rifles, so maybe you are fortunate enough to have a secure room to store them in.

81 is rather a lot though. Probably it makes you a collector as it would be difficult to shoot all of those through the course of the year to any meaningful degree of familiarity. I don't think I like 81 different models, there would be a best one or two in each category and that would be it.

Do you have duplicates or are they all different models?

    Good for you.

Let your husband know, make him a sandwich and run along and get on with the washing up.
