Anyone think that a brass trigger guard improves the look of a plain looking 80

A bit of an odd question I know but I have got to like it and was wondering if anyone agrees that it adds something to a plain 80

Yes, I've always thought that some nicely polished brass parts sets a lot of guns off. screw cups with blacked screws and safety buttons maketh for a fine finish too.

No no no no nay naw nae you cannae do that ..

Brass parts are a major detractor from the looks of an airgun, unless they are chemically blacked. The only parts of a rifle that it is ok to have the yellow metal exposed is the trigger blade annd the safety button. It’s ok for spring guides as well as you cannot see them.

Makes a decent rifle like an 80 look like the inside of a fake ‘country pub’ or a traction engine or something.

Looks likes something the Yanks would do in their poor taste, just my 2 cents worth as I like the traditional look and also do not like a gun that looks like a rechargeable vacuum cleaner.

I'm also not that keen on brass additions. Each to their own.

A tiny bit of brass isn't too bad - but it should never appear alongside silver/alloy/stainless

Yep, as per my HW77 Vantage. And had it been stainless / alloy, I would have been just as happy. Blued would be nice, too.

Have brass bits on a few Weihrauchs. They were a thing of their time and very popular, I’m indifferent to them now but I won’t change them.
I still like the plain blued steel trigger guards on the Mk. 1 R7 and my Fenmans if I’m honest !

Chemically blacked parts sound very appealing !

Not for me either, anywhere really. My favourite HW bling was when I polished up a standard safety catch with fine wt and dry and autosol. It came up like chrome and looks nice, a little more understated than brass.

the topic reminds me of soon to become classic cars - always worth more when left original

I was looking at a S400 recently where the seller was trying to justify a strong second hand price because of brass bolted on extras - I was like they do nothing for me and they are not performance enhancements, just someone's personal preference which I understand everyone has a right to

I’ve got a recipe for blacking brass I’m going to try on a brass muzzle weight. I got it from somewhere on the net from a fellow who blacks camera parts. I’ll do a post on it sometime.

I did have a nice aluminium trigger guard for an HW once, foolishly I sold it. It was machined out of solid billet.

Looks ok to me. You've not overdone it.
