Hi folks it's been a while since I last posted on here and I always seem to be begging for knowledge! I have in my workshop a BSA Superten ( a heavy beast) in .22. The sad little thing is only making 8.5 ft lbs average over a string of 5 shots. I know better than anyone not to ask for a secret formula to take it above legal but somewhere in the 11 ft lb region would be nice. Many thanks in advance.

Had one on the bench here in very distressed state a few days ago. Working quite well now.
Worth checking muzzle energy around 65/70 bar then 100 and again at 150.
Reg is usually around the low figure so if energy drops off at higher levels it's defective.
Interesting hammer adjustment as found

The regulator presssure setting on the Superten depends on the calibre and length of barrel. The OP has a .22" and if full length rifle the factory regulator pressure setting for sub 12 ft/lbs was approx 55 bars. BSA used a 16.3 grain BSA Huntsman to set the power. These gave the maximum power at the time even in the springers.
Well worth, for me, running shots with existing reg. ball removed to get ideal operating pressure for the particular set up.
Then set the reg. at or just above that.
As always great advice from all, for which I am hugely grateful, Huma Air it is then.

I have a friend who has had his regulator rebuilt by John Lane, but the power remains stubbornly low.
He is convinced his hammer spring has become weak, but can't find any sources of new ones and he doesn't want to put a second hand one in in case it has the same issue again as I understand they are not that easy to change?
Would anyone have any pointers to sources for new ones please?
