    Benchrest Comp with a HFT500

So I'm about to compete in a comp with a standard Air Arms HFT500.
I've never competed before & i'm a bit unsure of some of the rules.
I gather there is a problem with the standard concave stock on the HFT500 (concave not allowed?)
I know lots of people compete with a HFT500, so what do they do?
Fit some kind of slip on cover? or remove the concave stock?

I usually shoot with the front of the rifle in a V shaped tripod, which again I believe isn't allowed?
I gather the front of the rifle can only be supported on a flat surface (so no bean bags or V shaped supports)

Any other rules & regulations that I should be aware of?

    All help greatly appriciated.

I'm not aware of any problem with the standard stock of the HFT 500.

NSRA benchrest rules can be found here:

    Good luck.

    Hft 500

These make excellent benchrest rifles, a shooter at our club use one to good effect, standard stock is fine.

Does your stock have the accessory rail underneath ?
If it does you can buy a benchrest block that attaches to the rail to give you a nice flat contact area, you will find them on egay.
I just made one from a scrap of plywood and it worked fine until i got a dedicated BR stock.

I used to shoot BR, mostly rimfire but i used an old AA protarget for a couple of air comps and the block worked well with the accessory rail.

I only have pics of it fitted to rimfires but the AA rail was the same.

This is an Anschutz BR50 stock, the contact point still has to comply with the rules

If your shooting to NSRA rules there isn't any advantage in spending a lot on a front rest, a very basic rest is fine as you don't really use the adjustment that your paying for on fancier rests, also the extra adjustment makes them taller which is a disadvantage when you can't use a rear bag.

The concave stock rule comes from world rules benchrest. The flat front rest comes from NSRA rules.

Pick one, read the rules and go from there.

This same question was posted on a different forum website and was answered that a bag rider has been made by someone to fit to the butt of the stock to meet world rules requirements.
