I still cannot figure why they went with the piscitorial theme on a gun, its more suited to fishing gear,
I reckon it could be that the stock company could not do traditional oak leaves at the price that AA wanted to pay, the suggestion of the scales being more grippy is possibly an excuse thought up on the hoof and should be taken with a pinch of salt.
A great illustration of how not only is the earlier stock infinitely more beautiful, but that the Mk.II barrel set up is better looking too. The Mk.II was the pinnacle of sporters. What Air Arms did to it with the Mk.III style stock and the new barrel set up was bordering on criminal.
I love the way the fish-scales look, my original stock was battered to f$%#, so when one came up for sale on the forum I jumped on it! Needed a little messing about but my mark 2 action is in a much nicer looking stock. I have a vague idea it was only £80 too, I saw a TX200 stock go on the auction site for £250+
I have no idea why...

Though the checkering was standard, I didn’t like the Fleur-de-Lis on the FX2000 when they first came out. I like them now.
Not seen an example myself but it sounds "nice" & I recon being a Pisces I would like the fishcake option.
