There's nothing wrong with a springer mate, just like there was nothing wrong with a Ford Escort.

I think a springer makes a good second gun, and you can tune the bejeezus out of it if you like but what are you doing? You're making it as close to a PCP as you possibly can.
Most people aren't really interested in the correlation between swept volume and length of stroke although if you are, I apologise. If, however, you want to bag some vermin then do yourself a favour and get a PCP.
