Hi All
Round 7 of the 2017 series will be hosted by SWALLOWS FTC on Sunday 6th August.
No bluebells to enjoy at this time of the year, but our woods will give those of you who have shot in all 6 previous rounds an opportunity to improve on your series total percentage - assuming you can better your worst to date result.
The competition is open to all safe shooters with sub 12ft/lb air rifles and from any of the five hosting clubs (Swallows, Ford, Horsham Hawks, Mile Oak and Buxted) as well as teams from our established visiting clubs (Iden Fern, Meon Valley and MAD).
Other individuals will also be welcomed; all we ask is for a brief heads up that you would like to join us by dropping the host club a PM or email. In the case of Round 7, that's me- Biggles - and you can find my contact details in the BBS member profile.
Gates will open at 8.00am with booking in commencing at 9.00am.
The shoot will start at 10.00am after a safety briefing scheduled for around 9.50am. You must be at the safety briefing if you intend to shoot in the competition. Please remember: if you want to shoot with a specific person, don't leave booking-in to the last minute as you may be disappointed!
Cost £7.00
Juniors (under 17) £6.00
The course will be set to current 2017 UKAHFT rules.
Most of you will have been to Swallows FTC before, but if you thought you knew the way to us .. WE'VE MOVED. Last October saw us depart our site just South of Lewes at Swanborough farm to a location not too far away; just a few miles further East and now East of Ringmer and North of Glynde - famous for it's Opera House. You can find full detail of our location on our web site, a link to which is included in my BBS signature. Nearest postcode is BN8 6DB. As the farm name plate is a little set back from the road, we will be placing a large(ish) yellow metal square/diamond on the telegraph pole immediately opposite the entrance. NOTE that, most confusing of all is the name of our neighbouring farm (half a mile to the West) which is Broyle PLACE Farm; our new home is Broyle PARK Farm
Parking will mostly be in our main field - please follow directions from our traffic wardens. What must NOT happen is anyone parking among the farm building complex in such a way as to block the movement of farm machinery.
Tea and coffee will be available and catering will be provided care of Stuart!
All the very best and we're looking forward to seeing you all there,
Biggles

Well ... last night's course setting efforts were fun
Peeing down and rather breezy and rather dark.
Just hope you can see the targets better in proper daylight than Vince, Kim and I could yesterday.
As for the ranges, probably best not to ask as it became impossible to see anything through a Leup laser finder (wish they made one with illuminated display).
Rather annoyingly, the weather forecast for Sunday is far too much light and far too little wind. Doh!
We'll be back at it on Saturday - starting around 8am for any Swallows members able and willing to join us.

Hi All
With big thanks to Steve, Vince, Carla and Alasdair and in spite of the thunder, lightning and torrent which hit us this afternoon with 3 lanes to go , the course is set.
Quite surprised that we managed to find the targets (lanes 1-15) which we put out on Wednesday evening during a similar downpour and near darkness.
What's out is out and, while not quite as tricky as I would have liked, I think you'll find a smattering of lanes to make you think (or mutter under your breath).
URGENT MESSAGE RE PARKING ......
Please keep it neat, tidy and 'tight' and ALL IN THE FIELD please. There will not be 'safe' parking on the grass verges we used back in April due to the probable passage during the day of a combine harvester !! Driver of the latter is not known for the accuracy of his steering and I'd hate to see any of you loose a road-side wing mirror (or even the whole of the left side of your vehicle ). On your route in to the field you'll see an area which is taped off - it's a tad boggy and we don't want to be making it worse.
For anyone arriving early (Nigel ), please be prepared to help with final prep, including putting out the zero and practice range in particular.
FINDING US ....... Gerry has again slung a pair of bright yellow metal plates from the telegraph pole immediately opposite the entrance to our home - Broyle Park Farm. This should help reduce the number of you who end up at Broyle Place Farm (1/2 a mile to the West of our site)
See you tomorrow.
