    Entering Reloads on FAC

Please can I ask the knowledgeable regulars here.

What is the current legal requirements for adding/putting details of reloaded rounds onto your FAC, only I heard from a friend that his local force now require that all reloaded rounds have to be stated on your licence, or a separate list has to be kept for official verification / scrutiny. Is this a country wide requirement, or added by certain forces around the country on a regional basis.

    Thanks

As reloaders I'm sure we all keep detailed records of our reloads anyway.

I offered to show my reloading log to TVP at renewal as partial evidence of use but was told, quote, "We're not interested in that as you could write anything on there" (I did think that was an interesting take on the integrity of a certificate holder....), which would presumably hold true for writing them on your FAC. I didn't get around to offering the jar of fired primers

Sounds like someone's been making things up as they go along.

    Entering reloads on Fac

This has recently been mentioned to me when I put a variation in, they said that I hadn’t bought any ammo according to the certificate.

Said that I reload and they said write them on your certificate

This has been discussed in some detail on the stalking forum

    Cheers Steve

I remember last time one feo tried this one a few people entered each round in turn as they loaded it then sent the cert in for reprinting every time it was full! They back-pedalled a lot.

Not something I have heard of, my feo asked me about lack of purchase in certain calibres at inspection point, and I just pointed out all the reloading equipment in the gun room.. Okay that’s fine then was all I got

They are more concerned with how much ammunition you hold at any one time and how often you shoot. They do ask you to get records from your club regarding attendance and which firearms you shoot.

    Reloads

You would need an FAC volume for recording reloads.. I do record reloads in various exercise books.. naturally of course, in order to devise better and more accurate loads. The powder, the quantity and the bullet. You devise what shoots well and what doesn't.

Thank you for your answers so far.

Oh to be so well organised. I’ve spent fifty years chucking them together and promptly forgetting what was good. Mind you, I do the same with wine!

The only thing a certificate holder is allowed to write on their certificate is their signature! All other entries are for transfers firearms or ammunition to the certificate holder. You cannot transfer something from yourself to yourself.

AFAIK there has been no change in legislation i.e. the Law.
As above, apart from signing it you would have no reason or requirement to write on your own fac.
I used to shoot about 6k reloads a year. No way would I be filling in my fac.
All the reloading kit in my home office into which I invite the FEO on renewal has always sufficed.
Unless a FLD can show its a legal requirement then I would challenge it.
I just keep a general record in an old exercise book.

I just have a pile of empty primer wrappers although I have never been asked.

One of our members was asked about the lack of 22rf entered on his ticket. He told them he usually bought what he needed at the club so the feo promptly said “so you don’t need 2k on your licence!”

    You can’t win.

Perhaps it's just me being a bit anally retentive but I've always found it useful for tracking round counts, keeping track of batches of ammunition and noting any issues/points to keep in mind, especially when working up a load.
