    Theoben Rapid Mk II

How do these stack up against modern PCPs? They seem to command high prices. How accurate are they and is there a single shot adaptor?

acuracy... it's all down to the barrel.. most are excellent, some are awesome. Single shot adapters are available.
Always looking for any cheap, interesting, knackered "project" guns. Thanks, JB.

A good Rapid is as accurate as any air rifle made, a member on one of the forums has recently come up with a redesign for both the magazine & single shot loader, .22 only at the moment, both are well thought out & well made.
Probably the main attraction is how simple they are, so owner maintenance is fairly easy.

The only let down against modern rifles is the lack of a gauge & QF as std, although easy to add or buy a RAW with them factory fitted.

Back in the day I considered mine in .22 to be the "ultimate hunting tool" !
Maybe it still is to some ?
I would have no hesitation in having another !

    I have the modern version
    The RAW HM1000
    A mark 2 with a lever action
It at least equals any other pcp on the usual Saturday at the club
Inc Steyr, Feinwerkbau and Daystates for accuracy

    The trigger is excellent too.

As for accuracy, I'm not aware of any reason they shouldn't compete with modern rifles, mine is certainly good although ultimately beaten by my Phoenix Mk2. If only the Rapid trigger would fit the Phoenix.

Perhaps the best feature of my Rapid Mk2 is the way it comes up to the shoulder so easily and just fits, every time, perfect sight picture, well balanced. It inspires confidence that it will do the job again and again.

I have a later model in .20 calibre manufactured by Impact, the GSX200 which has the quick fill and gauge as standard. Awesome rifle

No idea but very happy with my Mk1. If the Mk2 is an improvement then its win win for owners especially when they hold the price & very easy to sell on unlike many other rifles. Want to know what a good rifle is ? Hard to find s/h, holds value & sells very quickly while others are still advertised weeks later.qq

Had mine for almost six years with flawless performance. The worst thing that happened to it was when I slipped climbing over a wet stone stile while lamping and fell heavily and mostly on my chest but although the metalwork and scope was untouched, one side of the gunstock was fairly badly grazed on contact with the stone stile steps.

A few days later I sent the air rifle back to Theoben who stripped it down, serviced it and sent it back in perfect condition, I sanded out the stock damage to an acceptable condition myself.
It served me well for two years before I eventually sold it.

Should add, as a result of the fall I sustained three cracked ribs which were bloody painful !

Once you have owned a good rapid the only thing you will ever want is another rapid.
