    Which Shape Bag

I bought my Vulcan bagless. Once there was just a gunslip to buy. Now there are too many to mention. Bearing in mind I'm only ever going to my local range, what would you recommend, please?
    Thanks.

Things to consider: length of rifle, whether or not you use a moderator, scope ... check that rifle and scope will fit easily into the bag.

Floppy bag vs solid .... up to you really. Whatever, preference should be for one with handles and a (very sturdy) zip and one or two zip pockets on the side. My experience is that the zips tend to be the weal point. Personally I do not generally use a 'sling strap' to carry the bag but you may find it useful. A 'plastic box' type bag can be useful.

Beware of bags that are in reality just shotgun bags so will not take a scoped rifle.

Some bags open out to form a shooting mat. Interesting but not for me.

If you can get to see bags, do so as padding can vary.

If you have a local auction you may be able to pick up a bag or two quite cheaply.
    Cheers, Phil

There are loads of different shape & size gun bags/slips or even hardcases,
like many things this is something you need to get hands on with to get the correct size & also see what padding & securing straps there are,
Yes you might save a few £ on line but you might also buy ill fitting junk.

If the bag is for a specific rifle I will take that rifle to the dealer to try the fit before I buy.

I have taken to using tactical bags for my smaller rifles. Rectangular with plenty of pockets and carry straps if needed.

I have always favoured a deep well padded bag. Gun Gear used to make superb ones.
If its worth buying then its worth protecting.
I think a lot of rifles and scopes are damaged with cheap thin slips that offer no real protection against tranportation.

    Hi mate.

I got a new bag last year.
I forked out the extra few $$$ on an AIM bag.
    https://www.aimfieldsports.com/tactical-drag-bags

    Rile and Carbine lengths available
Loads of room inside for a scoped rifle with pod attached
    Multiple internal securing straps
    Very very good padding
    Good tough heavy duty zips
A good selection of external pockets (one of which has 2 elasticated sub-pouches which fit pellet tins perfectly)
Comfortable to carry and well balanced.

Cannot recommend enough really top kit, not cheep but then again you don't need a second mortgage either.
