Be great to see you again, Sir.

Access at the moment is certainly a bit hit and miss.

Well at least the HW45 is striped & ready for he TBT kit & Aussie seal. I want it to be as accurate as my 2240, hoping too much ?
The 45 is a seriously accurate pistol. As Tony said, difficult to master but once achieved very accurate indeed. Worth having a play with the 7 metre bell target at the bash. That will give you a great idea of whereabouts its going. I found that once you've got your close range grouping and a technique developed, then go on to targets further out. The worst thing i reckon is to start off too far out and end up frustrated with not hitting much. Being probably the biggest HW45 fan known to mankind i practice with mine a fair bit. Extra strong mints at 15 metres are a fun challenge!!!

Fully agree, Mike. The 45 is an awesome pistol. Quality, fine trigger and so much charm and character. Sometimes, when a home session becomes available to me, I find a pistol so much more in-line with the short ranges dictated by our small garden. So easy to wield about, too. I absolutely love the character and unique feel of the 45. I can get okay with them, but don't get the chance to use them as often as I used to (most certainly compared to 1988 when I got my first one), so couldn't profess to be anywhere as proficient as you are with yours now. Fully agree with getting used to it at those shorter ranges and getting to learn the cycle and how it wants treating before moving those targets out further.

I once tried one of the Wold Top offerings. Can't remember which one it was, but I do remember it being pretty nice. Some of the Samuel Smith's ones are also very nice, but similarly expensive.

Do give those Shepherd Neame ones (their IPA and Old Kentish Ale) and the Marston'sOld Empire IPA that I'd previously mentioned a try. Definitely not bland. And sometimes on offer at some of the supermarkets if buying a few.
I think it might be worth me nipping out to somewhere local to the Bash & seeing what there is, never seen Shepard Neame up here, anything Marstons is also a rarity.

You'll have to give me a few pointers with the 45, as I mentioned my .22 2240 is very accurate (maybe I got a good 'un lol) & if I can shoot the 45 as well as that I'll be very pleased.

The 2240 does have a decent & tiny Victopics red dot on that makes a big difference, can't seem to find another one the same for the 45.

Its worth having a good dabble with different pellets. I've got three 45's, two of which will shoot any pellet well, but the third one is really pellet fussy. It took a while to find a pellet that it liked to be honest.

That's odd, maybe it's a slightly different size bore, I would have asked about the barrels crown but if there are pellets it's happy with then it's probably not something that needs fixing.

Just had a quick look and it looks like there are at least a dozen different types of .22 pellets in my gun cabinet & pellet drawer, with maybe a couple more in a cupboard There'll be sumat that works

I know some old Brits are different sizes but didn't think anything Euro was.

Hope the sciatica buggers off quickly for you, Pete. Bloody horrible.

And I hope everything else comes together for you to allow a few more plays before the Bash weekend.

Have you tried Asda? Quite a few of their stores seem to have it. Morrison's too, I think.

There will always be anomalies that complicate pellet choice, most likely down to the minutely differing tolerances as the machinery involved to make both the barrels and pellets very slowly wear and near the end of their useful lives.

Sounds like you have plenty of pellet choice to work through. Excellent. That'll provide hours of fun, the opportunity to run the internals in and also for you to bond with the 45 and discover how she wants handling.
