So, had another very enjoyable session yesterday. The drive across was in drizzly conditions. Once indoors, you could hear the rain belting down for a while outside, but all nice & dry and wind-free inside.

Had another session with the Diana AM03 pellet testing. Had a few nice little chaps with some of the nice other shooters, including one chap who now owns Nick, Oldskoolz', ex-HW50 125 Anniversary. Lovely little thing.

Just a quickie....on yesterday's visit my target card fell out of the steel holder. This hadn't happened on my previous visits. A nice chap later lent me some magnets to hold the targets in place. I'll get some bought prior to the next visit for that reassurance. If people are thinking of shooting at paper at this meet, you're probably best advised to bring some small magnets also. Clips etc might also work.

Again, a most enjoyable day and you can achieve a fair bit of testing and learn lots about your rifle and pellet combinations in ideal conditions.

The recent 97 will be next....

We use Bulldog clips but that's dependent of the design of the steel back plate.

Had a look earlier - suitable magnets available cheaply on-line. I'm nipping into town shortly. Wonder if any shops in our quiet little one-horse town have any? Doubt it.....

How does it work there for zeroing & drop testing Tony? I.e. retrieving/changing your paper targets whilst others are shooting?

The range marshall calls a ceasefire about every 30 minutes, Paul. These breaks are long enough for everyone to go down range and retrieve / change their targets. Whilst the ceasefire is in effect, everyone is to step away out of their shooting booths.

Safe, effective and gives everyone a little break.

    Cool Mission success!

Blimey, whilst in town I called into Boyes and they sell magnets. Bought a packet. I think there are about ten of them in there for £2.99. There's also a strip (rolled up) in there with tape fixed to one side. Guessing that's a strip to affix them to for storage? Had a quick, cheap pint in 'Spoons whilst in town (well, you have to, don't you?).

I'm going to test the magnets shortly by fixing a target to one of my steel traps shortly.....a hallway pistol sesh beckons.

Edit:- There are eight magnets in the packet.

Boyes, thats something I miss from when the Mrs was in the North, mooched the one in Stockton on occasion when she was at her class in the Arc, lots of cheap gubbins that are quite handy.

Thanks Tony. I'm guessing you can have more than one paper target out for your lane then? It doesn't take me 30 minutes to fire a 5 shot group to check zero before any adjustments

Oh yes, you'll be fine, Paul. You could probably get three holders onto each lane. Each holder takes two large cards with multiple bulls, so lots to go at. You can buy the large cards at the range - 6 for £1. Last time I used three cards in a pretty intensive three hour session; yesterday I only used two cards. The range would also have no issues if people bring their own.

I would guess that we will have even more freedom and leeway when we go there for this meet, as we're having half of the range (nine lanes), so I guess we'll be able to have targets here, there and everywhere. There are also numerous re-settable targets there and you can also bring tin cans, empty pellet tins etc. to shoot at.

Lots and lots to go at.

Yep, I find it a very useful shop. Especially so with the demise of Wilkinson's.

Forgot to mention earlier......there are spinner and bell targets, too. Plus Brian has offered to provide other types if needed, wiithin reason. I think we'll be perfectly fine with what's there already, though.

The magnets worked really well earlier. I used them to attach one of the target cards from the range to my pellet trap and they worked brilliantly.

For anyone wanting to get some from Boyes, you'll find them on the "fixings" aisle with the bolts and screws etc.

If Brian is looking on I have a plate that securely holds .22 blanks (coke bottle shape). Would we be allowed to shoot at this or would it be too loud?
