Thanks guys. Much appreciated.
I stripped and reassembled one of these quite recently. I found the easiest way to refit the end block was to get someone to hold the rifle in a vertical position with the end of the barrel resting on a rubber mat on the floor. You can use your body weight to push down on the end block and compress the spring while turning the end block to engage the thread.
One big tip I learned from someone on here many years ago was to first refit the end block without the spring fitted and check where the threads start to engage. This gives you a much better idea of where the end block needs to be to engage the start of the thread when the spring is fitted

They were machined together so the sight grooves and block are exactly aligned/matched, some 'bitzas' have a small gap between the block and tube whilst others have been overtightened, misalignment can cause cocking issues.

Thanks for the advice guys. I might advertise it for sale as is along with my BSA buccaneer which also requires a new piston seal. I just don't have the time or a vice handy to strip them both down with. Chris
You won't necessarily need a vice, Chris. If you don't particularly need the cash or space, I'd be keeping them until you do have the time to work on them. Most especially the Bucaneer, as they seem quite rare and are very sought after. A lovely, unique little funster. Airsporters are more plentiful and easier to come by, so whether to sell or keep depends on how much you like the idea of keeping and using it.

Fully understandable. Would you consider keeping them, though, and keep a description of each of your guns where it could easily be found / referenced for valuation / selling purposes. Maybe nominate a good, trusted shooting friend to oversee the sale, as and when necessary?
It's something I ought to sort here.....
