Old photographic film works well for shimming.

I’m trying to set up a modern telescopic sight on an old mk2 bsa meteor. So far so good however I’m having the following issues :-
The sight tends to creep back on its rail (dove tail to picatenny)
The sight is on its maximum elevation but still shooting low what is a good shimming medium ?
Ive just got back into this hobby so trying keep costs down untill I decide to stay with it.

Smell my cheese
Cheers. I picked up some good quality dove tail mounts today hopefully cure movement issue
Further to my mounts post the new mounts came with a tape liner. Wondering if self amalgamated tape would do similar job
When I had this issue I got a dove to pic rail and tightened it very hard and then used FX zero mounts - it fixes the problem with ease.
Just had to shim the rear scope mount on one of my old Dragons whilst running out of elevation mounting a non-too-fancy 4 x 32 Bushnell scope.
First time ever, I used a piece of thin plastic from a yoghurt pot....came already curved![]()
