They did offer me an appointment for yesterday afternoon, but it would have meant parking at the Doncaster Royal Infirmary, which is always a nightmare, plus they're going to have to put eye drops into the eyes to dilate the pupils, making it so you can't drive. So the car and I would have been in awkwardly stranded in Doncaster. They also offered me an appointment for today, but as the weekends are our busiest times at work, I declined.

I'm off Monday and Tuesday. Mrs L has prior commitments so I'll go over on the train which should be much easier. Guessing that'll take most of the day up. Tuesday at the dentist. No more days off then until The Bash, so no more time for checking anything properly etc. Should be okay, though.

Hope they don't find anything too sinister on Monday.

    Hope all goes well Tony

I might have to take a bit more spring off, it's legal but not by much. It's crazy how much power those little open coil WW springs produce, with a lightened piston too !

I hope your eye has come good before you even get there, and no more talk of dentists please, it's the weekend

Sounds like just a tad off that spring then, as you say, Paul. Sounds good. It seems to be these little springs are the way forward.....obviously your WW one is getting a nice, easy time, working that lighter piston. And that TbT '97 spec spring is doing an admirable job working the much heavier piston in my '35, with greatly reduced cocking effort being a bonus feature.

Mmmm....eye has "sort of" settled.....the cloudiness has gone. But image from the right eye is nowhere near as sharp as the left. Edges of viewed objects a bit "fuzzy" too and, sometimes, when looking at a straight edge, it is wavy! I didn't want to read too much as it can freak you out, but it does sound like a torn or detached retina and the fixes sound mainly horrible. Deep joy. And these can be brought on by the injections I have in a small number of cases, apparently. I bloody well hope not. Hoping for an easy, straightforward fix, or that the eye corrects itself before I get there tomorrow. We'll see......

    Thank you.

Googling symptoms & medical problems is never a good idea, it puts ideas in the head that aren't helpful. That's how I got to waste a whole day at the doctors and hospital earlier this week

I think that psychology has a big role in health, like the placebo effect for instance, where a patient believes they have been given a cure & gets well despite the fact that they have just taken a sugar pill that does nothing. In other words stay positive & believe in your own bodies ability to heal & right it's self.

    Get well soon Tony.

Fully agree with the above, Paul.

And things are slightly better than they were four days ago. With things like this I think it's also quite remarkable how your brain adapts. So, at first when driving it was more of an issue with my dominant eye now performing below par. But driving now seems far better as, I guess, my brain's utilising the sharper images from the left to perform more duties, if that makes sense? All weird stuff and it's quite remarkable how your body and brain can adapt and face adversity.

And, sometimes, when I think about all those years of hard partying in my teens and early twenties, getting drunk regularly and head banging at rock gigs and rock discos on a very regular basis and bouncing down the road a couple of times, all this must take its toll, yet we keep bouncing back for more!

I think it’s called “Life” Tony, personally I preferred Floyd to Sabbath so I didn’t bounce around too much !

AC/DC were always, and still are, my favourite band. But always did / do enjoy many good rock bands. Quo were certainly always up there.

I suppose I was really lucky as I have an older brother who was in a rock band and I'd roadie for them from about 15 years old. Visited some great venues. Some ace groupies, too!:

And, from age 15 to about 20 our little local nightclub hosted many up and coming rock bands, like Saxon, Iron Maiden, Def Leppard, Motorhead, Saracen, Quartz, Trust etc. etc....there were so many. Thems woz the days.

There was a hall in Dunstable called the Queens way
All of the big bands played there
Saw Blondie and Motorhead, years before Sweet, Mud and all the Top of the Pops bands were there
I was lucky enough to see one of Rory Gallagher's last performances at St Albans Civic Centre
    Another much missed venue

We are going to need some King Crimson and some Yes too Tony to be truly progressive 😉

Out of the loop as ever chaps. Do I need to book some fish and chip action for one of the evenings? I'm in for this and don't want to miss out by being a tardy twat. Thanks. Matty 🙂
