Here in the firearm-crazed US, many airsoft or otherwise realistic-looking toy guns are made in colours. It helps the (understandably nervous) police tell them apart from the very common real things, and has no doubt saved the skins of some foolish youngsters.
Makes you wonder if some enterprising bad guy ever painted a firearm in a bright colour to cause confusion!
Maybe that would not be in line with their street cred though!
