Webley Mk3 Ball and spring for tap

Today I have stripped down my recently acquired Webley Mk3. All pretty straightforward until a tiny ball bearing dropped on the floor. I found it but could not find the tiny spring for the life of me. Not sure there was even one there but that's not a problem as they are easily available. My problem is knowing how to fit the ball and spring into the tap. In fact the more I look at it the more I think it's only the ball that sits under the metal plate. Any guidance would be appreciated.
