I got reacquainted with my Hw77 that I’ve had for 5 years ish.
It’s an early full length 25mm version, in need of a refurb inside and out.
It was in a bit of a state, with rust all over and the stock hadn’t been looked after either.
A well abused example, but I only paid £50 for it,so spending a a few Bob on it was the order of the day.
I stripped the old blueing and rust using brick cleaner, and oil with 0000 wire wool and reblued with Tetra blueing liquid.
The finish isn’t great but it’s protected for now.
The stock was stripped and lightly sanded, I stained the blond beech with some old Jacobean oak stain I had laying around and refinished with some Birchwood Casey True oil finish.
I fitted a new spring and guide set from ARC tuning (V-Mach) style, and replaced the breech and piston seals.
The spring and ball bearing from the under lever lock up parted ways,so I replaced with the 7mm ball catch modification..
I am only using the open sights on the gun and had a nice shooting session in the garden with it yesterday.
I thoroughly enjoyed myself, despite struggling with my crap short sightednessldwink.
Looking forward to using it at the Summer Bash.
Les..
