Following on from a post by Spudgun with reference to shooting standing "like a real hunter would," i thought i'd post this poll to see what everyone does.
What's your most favoured stance under normal hunting conditions? i.e. taking into account things you'd normally encounter whilst hunting. Mine's kneeling as a rule unless it's a long shot in which case i'd opt for prone where possible. I only stand as a last resort or if it's a close shot. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_smile.gif" alt="Smile" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

Now why don't that reply surprise me? <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
There's always one Kev. Why don't you let it be someone else for a change? <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
If I'm out in the fields stalking the fluffy bunny i like to use the sitting position when taking shots as i havent got my standing shots good enough yet.
But.... if im hunting the local hotspots quite a few positions come into use <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->

all of the above - needs must.
Standing mostly,closely followed by kneeling.I prefer standing shots because ive allways practiced most in this postion.
Standers mostly, with the aid of a tree, fence post telegraph pole etc, <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> i hate kneelers and usually long shots in short grass are prone but mostly long grass doesnt allow prone. Roost shooting i use a variety of positions usually sitting as i know the roost trees the birds are using! Every situation requires a different position, strategy but mostly i take standers
Standing mainly as due to medical reasons can’t find a comfortable kneeling position.
Pete
whatever the situation calls for, sometimes I look like a contortionist, positions seem never to be comfortable and quite often in ridiculous circumstances. Prone is favourite but very rare.
Nev
girlfriend tells me to treat my hunting positions like sex.. extremely varied <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_wink.gif" alt="Wink" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
Standing first and formost i suppose.
Were possible i will rest both me and the gun on a wall/tree/gatepost etc etc.
If i am sniping then it would be with a bi-pod were my shots are going to be longish ones.
208 views and only 27 votes. Am i to understand that only a small percentage of the bbs are hunters? Surely not. <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_razz.gif" alt="Razz" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:--> <img src="http://jsramsbottom.co.uk/bbs/e/icon_biggrin.gif" alt="Big Grin" width="15" height="15"><!--graemlin:-->
