    Pro elite owners.

    Hi all

I have just given my P Elite a service ,new piston seal ,piston bearings and
a relube. kept the original main spring .I put the gun over the chrono,
and its running a bit warm. Would removing the piston weight have any,
affect on the power . read on here that some of the tx 200 owners,
have had good results by doing this.
The gun shoots nice and smooth and i dont want to alter this.

    Any info would be welcome.
    Regards.

Hi - I've just done one of these for Sam Vimes.

Yes - removing the piston weight will affect the power. In .177 it dropped from a shade over 12fpe to around 9fpe.

The compromise involved shaving the end off the piston weight until it weighed in at around 26 grammes down from 40 grammes. The thinking behind this was to drop the power low enough to be able to "fine tune" the rifle by inserting packing washers as needed.

Without any additional washers, it's running spot on at 11.5fpe with Mosquito Express (7.8g).

The overall effect was a rifle that is much smoother and more consistent. I've given Mr Vimes a target shot at 35 yards with his rifle. The group is smaller than a 1p coin.

    Paul.

    Hi Gents
Thanks for the replys, I got the service kit from air arms and the main spring,
was 3 inches longer and had 5 extra coils over my original spring.
I think they have sent me the wrong spring ,So i used my old one.
Thanks for the offer mart, but the old one seems ok.
Hi paul my gun was doing about 9 ft to 10 ft before the service.
All pellets tried gave a higher reading on my chrono after the kit was fitted.
I will put a few hundred pellets through the gun and see what the results show.

    Thanks again lads.
