Have you ever tried a Gamo Stutzen?, no one seems to have one and they are never reviewed in the comics.
A few days ago I received a "MkII" short travel trigger insert for the CFX from Rich from Mich. It took abut 30 minutes to remove the MkI and fit the MkII, requiring only the action to be removed from the stock; no extensive dismantling of the action.
Now the first insert literally transformed the quite heavy and slightly vague single stage trigger of the CFX into a buttery smooth, extremely light, genuine two stage unit, albeit retaining the fairly long travel designed in by Gamo. It was a vast improvement on the original though.
The new insert (only $10 posted) performs yet another transformation! Total trigger movement from start of first stage to release is about 1/4", split about equally between first and second stages. Trigger weight seems to have increased slightly (not a bad thing; it was very light) but can in no way be described as heavy. I would guess it is around 1 1/2 to 2lb ie. sensitive yet safe. After the end of the first stage, release is now rapid and predictable.
I can appreciate that Gamo probably build their triggers the way they do, partly for safety and partly to avoid litigation issues, as many of their products are targeted at a broad, non-specialist market. It is a pity that the various modifications cannot be offered at least as optional extras, but thankfully we have the aftermarket men such as Rich to cater for our needs.

This latest trigger modification makes the CFX Royal an even more under-rated gun in this country, IMO. Isn't it is strange how our popular views differ so much from those of other nations where hunting is probably more widespread and socially acceptable than it is here?

I've never tried a Stutzen, but I believe they have the same underlever action as the CF30 and the same pop-up loading port. Various reviews on Review Centre say this port tends to chew up pellets and I believe Gamo themselves recommend frequent barrel cleaning of the CF30 (and presumably also the Stutzen). Though the Stutzen looks good, I personally think the extra wood is a very expensive bit of bling and think that the CFX is overall a better gun (better loading port) for a much lower price.
El Maipino on here has a Stutzen and should have just received a CFX. Maybe he can give a fair comparison, as he owns both.

Yup , a review would be interesting, and a comparison with the Diana Stutzen would be good! All I can find out is that they are very loud!
I can't think why the Stutzen should be very loud, unless the extra wood becomes a sort of "sounding board". We have a couple of CF 30s at our club (with the same action) and they are not especially loud at all.
Not possible that whoever said they were loud was comparing them to a pneumatic maybe?

I have a Stutzen i got it as i dont have rifle with open sights,it is a nice rifle looks a bit like Lea Enfield 303.The gun puts out 11.25 to 11.50 with diferent pellets the trigger did have a lot of creep so i fitted the trigger mod from Ritch in the US and it made a big improvement. The price is a bit high but as i said i like it and its a change from the run of the mill guns.

...had did you send the money to "Rich from Mich"? I've had an email dialogue with him about price but he's a bit vague on method...
Thanks
sbd.
The easiest way for the small amounts we are talking about is Dollar bills. Buy them from the Post Office (cheapest I believe) then fold them in a couple of sheets of paper before putting in an envelope with your order. Chances of getting lost in the mail are negligible; Rich is dead straight and it's tax free beer money for him!

I ordered my tuning parts and trigger insert early December, Christmas mail etc. By the 1st week of January, nothing had arrived and I emailed Rich to see if he had in fact received my payment because nothing had arrived. The reply was "Yes and parts sent over 2 weeks ago, but I'll resend the package immediately". I told him to give it a few more days, then the original parts arrived 2 days later. Nothing to worry about at all.
