I got very similar results in my 410. The Exterminators & Dynamics where crap. Have you tried Webley Lazadomes or Accupels?
Gents,
I’ve just done another pellet test with my .22 S410K. Due to the current restrictions on posting pictures on here, I’ve put the results on the following page:
http://www.a2kda.com/peltest/
The tested pellets were:
AA Field 5.52 15.9 grain
JSB Exact 5.52 16 grain
Exterminator 5.54 16 grain
Dynamic PCP2 5.54 14.5 grain
I hope the results prove useful to other 400 / 410 owners.

Dave,
Yep, tried them when the gun was new, but not recently.
They were both good if memory serves me correctly, but not as good as the AA's.
I may try them again now the gun has had a few thousand shots through it.

I have the s410k in .177 and the AA pellets are the best I have used
They out performed Accupels @ 30 yds, haven't tried these new Lazadomes though
I think it's worth paying a little more and stick to using AA pellets in an AA gun
Nice testing though, a very interesting read![]()
Yeah, expected results with the AA Field. It just shows how much difference a pellet can make! See http://www.airgun.org/articles/aas410kpower.html
For my power curve test.

The photo's were very interesting as it shows the Air Arms and JSB's are exactly the same in 0.22 i.e. they are one and the same pellet produced in the same factory and so should perform exactly the same. It is therefore only the 0.177 Air Arms that uses a slightly different design to the JSB own version, which is used by many shooters under various other labels.
Paul,
The AA's and JSB's are definitely NOT the same pellet.
Although very similar, if you look closely at the photos, the JSB has a higher and thinner waist. Also, if you look up the skirt (oh, er) the silver (machined?) circle is larger on the JSB's.
This is quite difficult to see on the original photos, so I've scaled them to the same size and put these modified images at the bottom of the test page (http://www.a2kda.com/peltest/)

P.S. Paul, having dug out some Daystate's, I believe that these are exactly the same as the JSB's.

that was very interesting-especially the exterminators at 30 yards-i tried them today and thought my 410 was duff!-so many thanks mate

Ter,
Out of interested , when carrying out tests.
Was the Gun filled for Each Pellet Test.
Also Dynamics & Exterminators give best results in a Clean Dry Action & Barrel.
As need to find the Rifling for Speed and Accuracy.
As when we carry out Bench Tests We refill the Gun for Each
String of Pellets and Targets.
As from the many thousands of Rounds that I have fire on Pellet tests Bench etc.
Pellet grouping fell apart when Air Supply was low.
Very comprehensive test.

Bob,
All I can say in my test .22 is that they were crap! People want a competent pellet that they can trust from the off!!
BOB/R,
My 410 is most consistent between 160 - 140 bar and all pellets were shot within this pressure range.
Before beginning the test, the barrel was thoroughly cleaned and then re-leaded with 40 shots. The targets were shot at 3 distances with all 4 brands given 3 groups (of 5 shots) at each range. With random brand selection, first the 30 yard targets were shot, then 40 yard and lastly 15 yard.
In total, 180 pellets were shot (220 including the re-leading). I normally clean the barrel after every 350 - 400 shots as I can notice a very slight reduction in accuracy thereafter.
I was attempting to remove all reasonable variables to make the test as controlled as possible. However, I do take your point that the test may not have been ideal for the Dynamic's as they may prefer no lead in the barrel. However the Exterminators, being lead, should not have been affected any more than the AA's or JSB's.

Thanks for posting your results. I did similar tests with my PT and (after a lot of mucking about getting a suitable clamping system to hold the rifle) found that it preferred either the Ø4.51 JSB or Ø4.51 Daystate pellets, and that using AA PT silencer or MFC actually increased the size of the groups.
Using the Ø4.51 JSB pellets, at a range of 47 yards, I can shoot 6 pellet groups which are 10 millimetres centre-to-centre sized.
What sort of clamping did you use to hold the rifle for your pellet testing? My earlier attempts took the form of bench vices, clamped to tables, weighed down by four huge calor gas cylinders. This was pretty steady, but still not steady enough to stop the rifle moving when I pulled the trigger.
You might also want to try testing Ø5.51 pellets as you may find these produce even better groups.
Cheers
p.s. our SAR course has had a few more targets added to it. You'll need to try the spinners - 20 yards up in the air, and 3 yards from the firing line![]()
That is correct. Josef Schulz of JSB has apparently stated that Daystate FT is JSB Exact Diabolo under a different label and he should know.Originally posted by TER...

Chris,
I didn’t clamp the rifle at all. It was off a picnic table with a beanbag.
I actually contacted AA about the 5.51's V 5.52's and they advised the 5.52's. But who knows, I'll order a tin of 5.51's and see how they go.
Is that the SAR course at TAG? I'm looking forward to shooting there again, but the website does not appear to have been updated in a long time. Are there any planned events for 2004?
