You could use something like this or this it needs no specialist knowledge to apply and will last for ages. (about ten years) I have used it in the past on large galvanised box gutters with good effect. We used one of our own labourers to do the job and even though he wasn't the sharpest chisel in the box he did it really easily.
The good thing about it would be with the offer of free labour from here it would cut the cost considerably.

Nice one Steve I had seen the Acrypol before but had no experience of it on box gutters. That looks just the ticket, might have to see if they feel like donating to a worthy cause when I'm back off me hols

    Cheers

Right chaps it seems the Stoke Mandeville theme is in a bit of a lull at the moment, so lets get it fired up again!

Anybody got a date for the work party to move in?

What materials have we managed to womble etc.?

I'm not sure of the current amount of funds we've managed to get, but I know it'll cover the cost of the roof. The issue of the scaffolding - I think - needs sorting or is in the process of being sorted.

Once the roof has been done then the rest of the work can start to be planned.

It may seem slow, but the whole project is in the consultation/quote phase.

    This is a go!

Why don't we start a thread where those who can supply muscle and willing, but no specialist skills, can put their names so as to make the call to action a bit easier ?

The thread is 20 pages long and is going to be a bit difficult to trawl through when the time finally comes.

The names thread for HFT shoots is a good example, we just add our names and when the call to action comes a mod or someone organising the project can PM everyone on the list.

What do you think mods ?

    Listen up you lot !!!!!!!

This evening I have emailed the roofing contractor to inform them that the quotation they provided for the roofing and scaffolding works are acceptable and we wish to proceed.
Rosie at DTSGB has been copied in on this as well as Mr Doe. We are looking at having the roofing works complete by the end of October weather permitting obviously.
The big fella appointed me the project manager and I have informed him that as he well knows I have problems managing to get up in the morning and I do not believe we will need a project manager, we will work as a team and together we will finish this project as a team.

Well you wanted action folks and there you have it we are off and running....

Been up to see Rosie and the gang again this morning, we have pencilled in the following date for possible delivery of the building materials.

29/09/07 this is just a provisional date and will depend if we can get the materials delivered on that Saturday...All those that can help with the unloading and storing of the stuff will need to speak up as Rosie says she will book dormitories for people who wish to stay over or who have long journeys.

We are hoping to have the roof works complete by the end of October so then the real work can start for the BBS SOS DIY team can move in.

We also need people to think who or what they know that may be able to help with turning what can only be described as a large wooden building that is very draughty into a homely warm and comfortable shooting club, things like carpets, sofa's, table, chairs all sort of stuff is going to be needed once the building is weathertight, also paint light fittings and decorative things will be needed..

Come on then who is the best BBS scrounger out there !
