oh my Gawd!!and to think I bought a scope from this man......!
Well, had a bit of a problem when it came to putting my ASI springer back together -
The preload on the new mainspring was out of this world (never before had a gun I coldn't just do with brute force )
Hmmm, no spring compressor, so time to make one methinks....
Pics say it all really
A couple of details:
- The three huge speaker enclosures on the bench (not to mention the block and tackle from the engine hoist) are to weight it down after if left the floor on the first "trial" - about 130 Kilos
- Extra brace between roof of shed and speaker enclosures for good measure
- 1 1/2 tonne trolley jack - should be enough for most rifles, unless of course we're talk "ox tunes"
- pile of cr@p under the workbench is optional

That's one way of doing it !!
Hehehe.... I put a new spring in my old Paratrooper repeater the same way
I have to respring my ASI Sniper now, only problem is it's held in by a pin 2 inches from the end of the cylinder
I couldn't be bothered by car jacks - I use the the whole car instead. Held the action with a C clamp, backed my car fender against the end cap, while my wife knocked out the end pins, I put the car into first, and gently eased the clutch out.........naturally, while the spring was put back I put the car into reverse.
BuddyBoy, you ought to be nominated for the 'Mother of all inventions' award !!!!
Rags, I feel like such a nancy now.... off to get the 4x4 ready for the next spring change
