Just to clarify the above, you need to phone Colin Molloy who is based at the Manchester Airguns shop near Oldham. Phone number is 0161 681 7947.
Life is to be enjoyed, not endured.
thankyou webman i will give manchester a call
and isp who have been recommended to me by Steve Pope

Lovely Gun. Wish you luck with the restoration. It will look magnificent when it is done.

You have been given a choice of the 2 best people to do your refinishing, but you will not be able to restore any etching that may have been present when the rifle was new, and I do not know of anyone who has a pattern for the original electro etching.
The only place you might get some replacement screws, is from John Knibbs.
I would have thought the value after restoration is irrelevant if you've promised the donor you are going to keep it, but, I know of three Mk.1 Rifles sold in the past month, one with very little original finish sold for nearly £300, one with a silvery blue original finish sold for £450 and another with very little original finish sold for nearly £600, so what a restored rifle is worth is anyone's guess, as most collectors want items in original unrestored condition, and I gave my estimate for that in an earlier post.
The later totally rolled impression models are better for restoration, as there will be no missing etching after a refinish.
thank you for all your pms
steve pope has recommended shaun at isp after an e mail and phone call he is going to do a full refurbish inside outside and stock,
it will take over a month as he has lots of work on
i will post the finished article thread as soon as i get it back with lots of photos it will be quite amazing when finished (as new)
admittedly not to everyones taste as some like the untouched look
but as you can see this gun has been abused on the outside years ago with scotchbrite and black paint and has very little origional finish left if any at all under the black paint it is 80 years old so i think this is the way to go as the gun was free i can spend the money required to bring it to prestine condition which will still be less than a mid condition rifle
and it will be a fine rifle and talking point down the club and to think less than a month ago i said i would have no more springers and sold them all
