it's called a circlip (pronounced sir-clip).
say it was for a sight pivot pin, it'd be called a site pivot pin circlip.
I need to buy one of these for one of my pistols. Can anyone tell me what they are actually called and if anyone has a site that sell them?.

Thanks, just need to find someone who sells them now.
You might have more luck asking for an E-clip, model shops are usually well stocked with them as they are used extensively in RC race car suspension.

I think you'll find these a known as an "E" clip, because of the shape Try an auto shop, do take your old one for sizing tho

You can get them in halfords but will probably have to buy a pack , best bet would be to source one at a motor factors etc
