Can anyone help me identify and value this?

If anyone here could help me identify the airgun in the following pics I'd be most grateful.

It's missing a couple of pins/screws but otherwise seems in good condition. Car boot material or something worth selling through a specialist dealer/website?

    All advice greatfully received.
    Thanks,
    Tim

\looks ot me like a 'GEM' style rifle. A 19th century US design, they continued to made from the 1880s intot eh 1930s. Similar things produced by the De Havilland Gun Company, and Quackenbush. Value, no real idea but the blue book reckons between $50 and $250 in the States, perhasp a bit more over here for rarity value.

That is a GEM style rifle. Produced in .177 and .25 (later in .22) in great numbers by an array of German and American manufacturers from the late 1800s through to the 1930s. They are a bit of fun and in the condition yours is in (and assuming it to be .177) would say around the £100 posted mark (insured). If .25 more, and if .22 less . For ref, sold a slightly lesser condition example in .177 badged Langham before Christmas last for £75 plus post (hope this helps). Nice collectable rifle. Atb: Gareth W-B.

Everyone has the right to be ugly. I just abuse the privilege.

Oh, and yes Tim, it is a Gem type.

Thanks very much for the gen and the warm welcome!

Now I just need to work out what calibre it is. I guess measuring the size of the hole at the 'breech' end won't give me the answer? (Yes, I'm a complete novice in airgun matters).

Here's another welcome to the site - this time from deepest Devon!

With regards to your question - look for a number stamping at the breech: No. 1 = .177, No. 2 = .22 and No. 3 = .25. If there's nothing visible, then try dropping a .22 pellet into the breech. If it won't go in, you've got a .177. If it falls through, you've got a .25, and if it fits, you've got a .22!

Thanks Paddy. No sign of stamped numbers, but .22 pellets drop through so I'm assuming it's a .25.

Once I've taken a few more pics I'll do a 'For sale' post.
