    Which HW45 case?

can any one tell me if the hard style cases with the "egg box" style foam inside are ok for the HW45?

i think i read somewhere that this foam can corrode & damage the finish on these pistols.

    thanks,

    jc

Utter bowlocks that seems to crop up again and again.
Just don't put the gun away when it or the foam is wet. I've kept rifles in foam lined cases for over 20 years with not a speck of rust.

Anyway the HW45 finish is anodized aluminium so it can't easily corrode. You would need caustic soda to get the finish off.

    thanks for your reply.

i now know where i heard this from.
it's on page 12 of the Weihrauch owners manual where it states:

"important notice: please ensure your gun is always placed in a plastic sleeve before packing it in a foam lined case. The foam lining my react with any of the metal surfaces on this weapon"

i must admit that it seems strange for this to be the case - hence this post.
what do others generally store / carry their HW45 in?

    thanks,

    jc

maybe it's the anti corrosion stuff that reacts with aluminium.

    It's bollix I tell you!

I kept my HW75 (same finish as the 45) in a foam lined camera case since 1993 - the type with pre-cut squares that you pluck out to make the shape you want. Still looks like new.

Another example, my HW77K. This rifle was reblued by Venom in 95 and the blueing is like a black mirror! From new in 87 I kept it in a bog standard foam lined rifle slip under the bed, for 8 years. Then in a home made steel case lined with egg box style foam, for 12 years. For over half that time I wasn't going shooting and only took it out once a year to fire a couple of pellets and give it a wipe over! This rifle looks like it was made yesterday.
