Done properly there will be no loss of accuracy, I like the barrels to be around 10 or 11 inches, the lost velocity can easily be replaced with no difference in felt recoil

i've got areally accurate .177 cal barrel on my HW95 ( or is it just me ).
What i would like to do is have it carbined , but how short can it go before its ruined.
will shortening the barrel decrease / increase the power levels at all , or make the rifle inconsistant etc .
Its a .177 cal hw95K 12ftlbs springer by the way .
THANKS in advance .

cheers Baz -- its running really smooth at 12ftlb ( venom stage 1 ) at the moment, how much velocity loss usually is there.
is there any difference in chop length for .22 and .177 cal barrels (would,nt mind getting both done ) .
cheers
Darren .
Any one else care to comment.
I had my 95 chopped and threaded by venom £40,they even put on an end cap, very nice and handles much better too.
Jubei-- what length did they chop it to, what cal was it in .
Also which silencer do you use on it .
cheers
Darren...
I had it cut to 13 inches, its .177 and is fitted with a parker hale steel silencer. So its close to its original length but alot quieter.Besides the parker hale is quite slim and looks better than the rest imo.
Ive also had the stock re-finished by don robinson £80 it has really brought the grain out.Its better figured than alot of walnut stocks ive seen,i just got lucky,he said 1 in 10 are like that.On top is a simmons pro air 4-12 x40.
Really nice gun.
sounds nice mate -- do you have a pic by any chance .

If you're thinking of shortening the Barrel to around 12"-13", there should be no significant loss of velocity, you can go to around 5"-6" (unlikely) before this becomes a problem, then you probably wouldn't be able to cock it!Originally Posted by darren m
A PCP is a different matter, 1" of Barrel equates to around 15fps, obviously there are upper and lower limits.
Yeah, ive just got a digi camera so when i work out how to do it ill mail you a pic
