It has a squared off rear of the receiver so was the final shape and made after 1970. Not sure of value.
Moved from sales section (I screwed up)
I know this is not a sales thread, but I figured this section is the Well of all airgun knowledge on the BBS.
I've got hold of a Walther LP53 from a buddy today. As far as I can see it has all that came with it from the factory. Cocking aid, cleaning rod, three front and three rear sights and manual. The box is complete with signs of shelf wear, no tears
My untrained eye can detect no scratches, dings or bangs. The barrel is a mate finnish, don't know if this is original or dulling through storage.
Here's the dilemma, my buddy gave it to me as he's not used it for 10+ years, though he's owned it longer.
I should offer him market value for it, so..any ideas?
BTW the box number and pistol number match,# 109499. Can it be dated from this number.
Here are the pictures

In British slang an anorak is a person who has a very strong interest in niche subjects.
I have just sold a friend of mine a LP53 the same as yours, but without the box,
he was SO pleased to get it for £150, and that is exactly what I paid for it several years ago.
They have become quite collectable over the past few years, especially boxed,
(which they normally are) but I think the inner chassis of the box you have is missing, it normally has spaces in it for, 2 rear sight blades, 2 front sight blades, the cleaning rod, and the cocking aid.
IMHO I think you should give your friend something in the region of £200.
Hope this helps with your quandry.

Bazwong.
P.S. I TOTALLY agree with your signature!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Just too many guns! NO, I was only kidding!
Pretty much agree with Bazwong here mate.......have a look on here;

O.K. its an earlier one......bit yours looks a beaut compared, plus has the box........A chassis could easily be made from some old brown card.....it just drops in and divides the box, and has little cut outs for the various bits..I am 100% sure someone one here would take a photo of theirs to give you the info you need to finish off your outfit.
Have you any more buddys giving stuff away please
There is a four page article on the LP53 here: http://www.cinedux.com/
I too have a later LP53 in an unfitted box with the elements in a plastic bag, so I suspect the later models were sold in this type of box, as well as a polystyrene two part moulded box, of which I also have an example.
Thank you all for the info, it's very much appreciated.
Good luck, Phil
