Better off putting this in Collectors Corner. If only there were a kind Mod to shift it .....
Has anyone got any insights into this model? Just started refurbishing it, its ( according the the datemark at the end of the stock ) 1953 version.....
added an 11mm scope rail. given it a general clean and new breach seal,
got some spares from Chambers but at that point I thought it was a 25, so piston seal is wrong. degreased the original and it seems OK, plenty of Thwack and what a straight shooter ! Making another stock out of oak and sycamore because the original is split, no bluing left at all, so polishing and maybe get it plated,,,,,,,,,, Nickel, chrome even. Not a working gun just a project.
n the course of taking it apart and putting together I devised a really useful spring compressor, so dont mind taking it apart again.
There are no marks, numbers Logos, engraving of any kind left on the metal, it was a well used and abused gun bought from a farmer about 40 years ago.........It was 50P
Spent most of its time at the back of a shed since then.
It dies not match any of the Chambers blueprints, some 25 components, some 23 parts so maybe a crossover or transitional piece.
Thank you kind mod.
Anyway, back to the subject........Old Diana 23......
Yes they are quite rare, you see a number of 22,s & Webley juniors that are basically the same gun Except for the barrel.
The above guns have a brass insert ( Some rifled some not ) and sheet plate rolled over them,
The 23 has a solid rifled barrel & is a nice gun, As usual, the Diana models are not of the quality of their counterparts ( Originals )
This is a pic of a " I think " original 23, 22, Webley junior
Value £ 45 -£ 60 & up for sale soon !
Pic -
Cheers Ged.
Thanks Ged,
Yes its a solid barrel and is it the middle one of the 3 in the pic?
Might be intereted in the one you have if and when its up for sale..
( Only in Wootton so not far away !)

Would I be right in thinking that the used Milbro G23 I had given to me as a young lad to learn to shoot with was similar to the Original/Diana 23 ?
The stock on mine eventually split as well, mind you it did get lots of use and fired thousands and thousands of bulldog/marskman pellets.
It had really great open sights, the rear one was a sliding ramp as the one shown in the picture appears to have as well, those were the days ! Good luck with the rebuild.
Ged,
Yes, wouldn`t mind a look at those guns, let me know when is convenient to you.
As far as the Milbro goes my knowledge is limited so could not say either way.. Ramp sight on the Diana yes, and very good to shoot with those sights

Garvin,
Exactly so ! It is Teun ! He has springs for the 23 ! Seems I am finding my way round here OK......
On that site in your link, the guns beginning with F, there is a model 60 restoration.. well looking at the pics, its much what I am doing but seeing as this one is going to be a project rather than a restoration I was thinking of nickel plating instead of rebluing. Do you know if this is common? seems a hard wearing finish and cheaper than proper bluing. Its going to be a bling plinker for my daughter but I draw the line at a pink enamel finish.
