HI,
I was a lot too young too remember any of this, all my mates had BSAs, seems we shot what we or our parents could afford-I cant even remember seeing all this exotic foriegn stuff. Where there any shops in or around Preston that sold them? How did people obtain them-mail order?
The 124/127 are good rifles but in the sporter category, it's the Weihrauch's that are still being made.
Webley Vulcan .22, Webley Tempest .177, Beeman Kodiak .25, Beeman R9 .177, Weihrauch HW30 .177, Slavia 618 .177, Colt Commander .45ACP, Browning Hi-Power 9mm, Bushmaster AR-15 5.56/.223
Not just the Weihrauchs, apparently.
Weihrauchs are still being made because the 77 karbine and the 85 killed everything else off, nothing to do with the 35 and 80. The 77 and 85 are two great rifles, but IMHO the 80 is just a crude characterless power plant built for the states where it came into its own and the 35 whilst being full of charm couldn't really compete with the 124 and 45.

Having just had to conduct a patrol of the double idiot section (Non Airgun -- Members Only), just in case it has been forgotten that I once said it, please note that I truly love this section of the BBS ... I've had a drink (what's new ), so had better now go ... See you all tomorrow chaps . Atb: G.

Gun fit. I could shoot a BSA, a FWB, a Weble Vulcan but a scoped up HW35/80/77 was too heavy to be enjoyable. We were kids then but there was a limit on shooting weight; still is.
bought, owned and sold a werky sport (overrated), never had a mercury but did have an airsporter s!
currently own a 98 and have owned hw35e too, but your all mad as a box of frogs cos none of them match up to a well sorted Omega!
right, spanner well thrown in works, just put ma tin hat on and duck!

The '45 was the most accurate sporting air rifle we tested in SAR in .177", .22" and .20".
I'd love to get hold of a brand new one and take a peek inside to see whether Mayer & Grammelspacher are fitting a synthetic piston seal.
If RUAG were to import the '45, would anyone else buy one? I would.

Original 45! Over rated. Ugly. Plastic. Barrel made out of plasticine. Bungs in the stock? Whats that all about. Design by someone who only had a rule and no protractor.
Sits back and waits. Mod baiting at its best.
