    Lightbulb how about........(new comp idea;))

a sort of handicap comp, shooters can shoot any gun any stance andy way they like for the first round then send there scores in with a list of guns they have scopes and sights they have distances they can shoot over that sort of thing, then when the scores are in, anyone above average will have some sort of handicap put on them, something like a change of gun from say a fancy pcp to a co2 Jobie or something, or having to shoot left handed or at a further distance, and people who score below the average score could have advantages such as shooting from closer or getting to use a scope if they have one, that sort of thing. anyway plenty of possibilities for those and it could go on until someone ends up shooting a smk springer left handed stood on one foot facing the wrong way looking in a mirror at 100 yards.
yes a bit extream but you get the idea.

what do you think sound like a laugh?? something different each month sort of thing.
although i suppose eventually the scores would all even out and everyone would be shooting at approx the average score, so wed have to think of something else to spice things up a bit.

as for the admin of it all we can have a think about that if enough people are interested,as it sounds like a lot of work, however ive got a few ideas.

so yer what do you think??

The comp sounds like a scorer's nightmare!

However, while we're throuwing out ideas, here's a thought: how about having it like this: the shooter picks his gun, it can be a rifle or pistol, open or optical sights, but he has to use the same gun for each of the 5 or 6 months of the comp. If your gun conks out, tough luck for you: no replacements!

Then, each month there's a surprise rule, to be announced just ahead of time by the moderator: two hand, or one hand only (your choice), or left hand only, or right hand only (one hand only applying to rifles as well as pistols, which would really cancel out their advantage over pistols: the flip side being the advantage they would still have over pistols when used two-handed).

We could mix this up further by adding a variety of surprise STANCES: standing, sitting, kneeling, prone.

It could really simulate the type of shooting you might have to do in a survival situation, if you were injured.

Any thoughts, other than that it sounds nutty?

Good idea, no allowances for pistol malfunction/breakage. You'd get this rule in most comps. Best to clean 'em, and service 'em..

    Good luck, Phil

    Nope all Sols idea.

I'm not the only twisted one on here you know

    Sol.

Does sound like an interesting competition, but with alot of admin.

Tell you what, you come up with a clear plan/criteria & we'll see if we can fit it in with the UBC comps. Would you be happy to run it if was to go live? As I'm now nearly overloaded with all th UBC & other stuff.

    Regards
    Paddy.

id be more than happy to cover the admin side of things, however it would need a reasonable participation each month so the field would be wide enough to stagger different handicaps effectively.
i was just putting the idea out there at the moment to see if people would be up for it, then we can fine tune rules and stuff if enough people fancy it.

Sol, you'll never really know for sure how many will participate, until it's put into play.

Since you're willing to run it, I'll give it a go as a participant, if we can work out a good final plan for it.

Not that I'm not already overwhelmed, too.

So that makes 2. Anyone else got any interest?

If there’s a few more ill draft up a provisional set of rules to run by you, some time this week.
