Just needed pumping up a bit says he, I wasn't happy and pressed him. He didn't really want to tell me but he admited that it happens once in a while due to oil contamination on assembly which causes dieseling. And as only around 5 shots are fired to set the power it will give a false reading, but after around 500 shots or so it clears itself! that was nearly 3yrs back and its still running just under 12. The thing about loosing power if not used only applies to the early models if its an HE its ok!
    Hi
Can anyone confirm the last sentence?

With regard to HE not needing to be worked frequently to avoid power loss!I heard that the gas ram system needed regular use to stop the seals drying up and leaking, so I asked BEN TAYLOR when I was in his shop, and he told me "its not a problem if its the HE system"!!!

Arthur is absolutely correct, when setting up any piston rifle you will get a settling down period, if it was slightly diesely it will drop and need resetting.
This does not happen often but is easily rectified.
It will not be the schrader valve as this is capped with a gas tight seal, bring them to me and I will adjustthem while you wait FOC.

    Hi All,
I currently live and work in Dubai, and the dealer for HW airguns out here used to always comment of HW90's being brought back to the shop due to a gas leak problem. All this while I have taken this with a pinch of salt,as,I owned a HW90 for the last 4 years, and it functioned without a hitch, but must admit it was seldom used.Understand the Hw90 also uses a Theoben strut, could this be the problem u guys are refering to?

    Question

My son's HW90 is once again only putting out just over 8ft lbs,and it only got repaired 15months ago,(for the second time in 3 or 4 yrs).Think shop repaired leak but it cost him £50'ish quid, and no rifle for about 8weeks.Can this be same problem again, surely if it leaked,it would lose ALL power???Anyone "HELP" him,
    Cheers

From 1993 0n 90s had a hardened steel dummy piston and is very reliable, if it has the old alloy one this should be changed at the same time as the seals.
If its late enough it may have only had a pump up and not serviced, just a thought.
