Great idea, Sol!

at bisley last week i noticed they were collecting empty co2 cartridges with the aim of selling them off as scrap. i would assume the money goes to charity or something.
so i was thinking why doesn't the ubc do the same, collectively we must get through a lot of co2, and if we all collected them and brought them along every 6 months when we meet up they could be sold on as scrap and the money donated to charity.
aparantly they are worth 2.5p each.
so what do you think??
any ideas for a charity? I would have thought help for heroes would be as good as any.

As I said yesterday Sol, I think its a great idea.
I'll collect mine as I go, and bring them with me to the next UBC, if that's what's going to happen.

Now and again Sol, amongst all the drivel, you do sometimes come up with the odd good idea.
This one is brilliant, well done, I'll go rummage through the bin in the morning and start my collection going.
I also agree with your suggestion for the charity to benefit.

H4H is the charity I'd like to see receive any proceeds from the scrap income.
Already started collecting and placed a wanted ad in the club hut for empty co2 capsules.
Excellent idea & excellent charity
I'll be saving mine also.
If everyone is happy for them to be collected at our next meet, we can work it out

Paddy.

thanks for making this a sticky
i dont mind being the one to collect them all in at the next ubc event, however its likely ill be coming up on the train whenever it is, so it might not be feasible for me to do it. however if my mate comes again ill be in the car and it wont be a problem.
shame the same cant be said about others

H4H is a very good charity, but I would like to see some go to the RSPCC & McMillan Nurses.
I will of course go with the majority on this.

I think Sol should get to choose the charity considering it was his idea, that seems only fair.
Sol, do you have any further details about who would actually buy these? Is it, to your knowledge just "general" scrap dealers, or a more specialised kind?
The reason I ask is that the logistics needs thinking about ahead of time, and a person nominated to weigh them in after the meet. If we work on the optimistic side and assume we'll have a shedload (I'll be bringing about a years' worth myself) then that's a lot of space and weight occupying some poor bugger's car.
The ideal scenario would be to have a dealer local to the Greyhound who would be willing to purchase them and possibly even collect from the site.
Sound like a plan?
