Thumbs down AGS SWAT 8-32 x 56 side wheel

received this what seems ages ago, finally got a target rifle to put it on a 2nd hand FX2000 in .177
with a tin of Accupell and a fresh supply of smk targets set out at 25 yds we set about the task.

sports mounts positioned, scope plonked on set front rear and cross hair squared up.

set to 10 mag twist the eye piece focus blurr, adjust distance with side whell can barely make out blurr of orange in centre of white blob

    Check glasses on ....
check other rifle, cheap nasty scope ..perfectly clear can even read the small emblams on target card
Try again check focus , distance zoom
    WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT.

    EMAIL jsr
ANSWER "YOU NEED TO FOCUS WITH SIDE WHEEL" gosh thats helpful

proceed to try and align scope eventualy hit tin padding up front mount
max adjustment as it is shooting about 5 inches to the left with full adjustment on

take it off completly and start again, 150 pellets and two hours later we can hit big orange blob in middle of white squareish blob

use other rifle as spotting scope to avoid marching up and down it the rain

so sorry but this elite tactical swat is as bad as they come looks like we will be exploring customer service at JSR

Check your mounts for being offset & get someone else to set it up for you then try again.

Just got one set up myself & think the're good.
Done a review & just waiting for the mods to give it the nod.
No disrepect for the OP but reading it & reading between the lines I think it needs, lets say a little time, to be sorted & used to give a review not just plonk it on then be puzzled about what's going on.

I might be wrong (all too often I am) but are these ultra high power scopes supposed to focus down to 25yds? I thought the 8X mag kicks in at 50yds. My Zeiss' focus wheel starts at 50yds and anything closer is a blur. If you want something to focus at 25yd get a smaller mag?

One of the reasons I got the 8-32x56.
Close focus for a short garden plinking session.
Yeah I know over kill scope for short range, ignoreing why I bought it It's nice to be able to use in the garden as well.

JSR do them for about £16-99, for the 100mm wheel.

I've had mine for a while now and never had a moments problem with it.

It doesn't quite pull down to 10yds on full mag but will hit 12. At 25 it's as crisp as some more expensive scopes I've tried. It's possible the scope is faulty, it happens.
As Tourneysteve said they're a great budget FT scope.

I see this 'review' is a few weeks old now so what was the outcome?

Certainly had plenty of time to have another go at it.
Perhaps It's been in the sales section & the new owner of a rubbishy bargain is more than well pleased with it.
    Wouldn't surprise me.

    end result....

well after a lot of wrangling

got a full refund off seller via paypal resolution

it was eventually agreed that the scope was faulty and he had passed it of as "near new"

so apologies to JSR they just wanted proof of purchase to consider warrenty position

watch out for a cheap 2nd hand one back on ####, it should go in the bin but i returned it as required

lets see how the replacement does, when it arrives

    thanks for you comments
it could of been me ......but it wasnt ,,,,,,this time any way

    Bad luck on that one.
If you look on the JSR site they have the AGS version at a good saveing.
Same scope, cheap enough to spend the same money, get a sidewheel & some change for pellets.
Glad you got it sorted with the seller takeing it back with a refund.

Bought the AGS SWAT 8-32 x 56 side wheel this week Wed 1st.
Went straight onto my Airarms S410 Classic, zeroing was a doddle.
The scope can get a bit hazy in very bright sunlight hence the long sunshade (provided).
Overall the difference between this and my Simmons 6.5-20X50 Whitetail clasiic is very noticable.
I would certainly recommend this scope and agree fully with the recent magazine review.
