    Nick,
Apologies if I am one of the ones you are referring to - this was completely unintentional. I am interested in a wide variety of shooting disciplines - more practical than formal - and naturally gravitated towards "6mm BB guns" because my airguns are in the UK.
    Regards,
    Adrian.

No specific targets guys (Forgive the Pun )

It's just that there's a lot of use of the word Airsoft to describe 6mm Air Pistols that fire airsoft ammo & vice-versa.

    It's all good fun though

Understood... and you are quite right - it is all good fun! I just wish more folks "back home" would only realise that - better stop now as the old "grape juice" is going to my head!
Thanks and all the best, Adrian.

    6mm

Does the BB have to be plastic? Steel would possibly be too heavy but there may be other materials.

    Jim,
    Airsoft ammo is plastic,
you can get 6mm metal ammo that will fit in airsoft guns and 6mm airpistols but it's not airsoft ammo,

Oh no how I am I going to workout all this out? Airsoft 6mm & 6mm Air, sub 1 joule, above 1 joule, use of Alloy, 20g, 25g ammo, whether it's co2, AEG, green gas, spring power. I've probably missed some out aswell

The logistics. The spreedsheets. The humanity

Ahhh I'll just call it the 6mm Category from now on

Good idea, Paddy! I'm just glad that I'm allowed to compete with my 6mm pistols. Hopefully (finger's crossed) I will be able to bring (with a little help from Mrs M) some of my 4.5mm category pistols over from the UK!
    ATB, Adrian.

Just to muddy the water a little bit more for you, you can also have 8mm Airsoft as well.

So what do you think of the "6mm or 8mm BB made from anything at all that can be made round and won't melt or jam Category"?

    Kind of catchy isn't it!!!

Given that airsoft ammo has to be
    (1) Light to get the velocity whilst keeping power down and
    (2) Spherical

Perhaps it could just be the Lightballs category?
