Hi John
Just had a look at my junior serial64453 and it has the small oval wooden plug. It has a straight hand stock and the best figured stock in my small collection.

Does anyone have or know of a late Junior (not Juvenile) that has a side button catch and/or the part ribbed wooden plug on the butt rather than a steel plate?
Never seen one but as the "First Pattern" Junior was sold up to 1913, it is possible some were originally fitted with the above parts.
Kind regards,
John

Hi John,
I have 78194 13 and a quarter stock, with side button and ribbed oval plug in the butt.
Is this what you are looking for?
Knibbs 'black book' dates that serial number to 1914, but as you will see (as I guess you will have the book!)
it states, start of photo etching, mine is stamped ' the BSA air rifle (improved mod D) ? also says rifles produced
were standards.
Mine has the rather nice pistol grip stock.
Hope this helps?

Thank you Dave and Chris,
You have both helped.
Chris, yours sounds like a Juvenile, or Second Pattern Junior, as they're sometimes called. Confusing isn't it?
Any chance of a few pics of both rifles at your convenience? Absolutely no rush.
Any more late First Pattern Juniors out there?
John
Hi John,
I guessed that was coming, pics!
I will take some soon, that's the easy bit! am away all next week.
Being a bit of an info tech cyber dinosaur or whatever, I will have to sort how to post pics here.
It's something I've been meaning to do for some time as I have quite a collection with some I hope interesting things
I'd like to share here.
Thanks for giving me the metaphorical kick up the ass to actually try and do something about it!!
Watch this space!!
ATB Chris.
