Some revolvers are a sub-category of "Pistol" (e.g. Rogers and Spence), but some are not (e.g. a revolving Rifle or a revolving shotgun)
Some Pistols are Revolvers, but there are Pistosl which are not revlovers (e.g. single shot, multi-barrel, semi-automatic, harmonica [I think Westlake used to make a one]).
I believe that some Licensing Authorities interpret them to be different, some do not.
What had you in mind when you asked for them to be added to your FAC?
If the categories you have do not suit what you now want to acquire, there is free 1 for 1 variation.
Suggerst discuss with your FEO in reference to a specific gun you want......
x pistol x revolver had more on list but was asked to reduce some

Your Licensing dept will probably interpret that the .44 Pistol slot is for a single shot and not for a Revolver - but like I said you can get that changed 1 for 1 if not what you want.
right, rang the feo up black powder 44 pistol ,36 revolver he said "so long as my cert says blackpowder next to each calibre its the same thing really, just dont go ordering colt python from the usa thou as thats prohibited,
sounds right ?

er......should not describe either as "Blackpowder" - very imprecise for the following reasons:
1) Some cartridge guns are Blackpowder, but such a Pistol would be S5
2) Some S1 Muzzleloaders are Nitro proofed - perfectly OK on S1 FAC
3) Perfectly OK to shoot a S1 Muzzle loader using 777 or other BP substitutes, but this would violate your FAC
They should be described as "Muzzle loading Revolver" or "Muzzle loading Pistol" in accordance with the Firearms Acts.
Explain, please for those of us who, like me, use subs because BP is not so handy as it is for you.
AFAIAA - BP substitutes are exactly what they say they are - non-nitro substitutes for BP. If they are not, then I've been shooting my BP-type guns illegally since 1984, and everybody else who has ever fired a shot with the stuff is as illegal as I am.

I think he means putting BP on your FAC and then using something else would be wrong.
FLD would never enter BP on the paperwork even if you applied as such, its none of their concern what you pour down your muzzle - using nitro wouldn't be illegal even if it blew your hand off.
