    Help - BSF 55 Deluxe

My recently acquired BSF 55 needs a scope ramp.

Have recently acquired a BSF 55, in .22, which shoots smoothly at 11.6 ft/lbs.
It shoots as accurate as I can hold with its iron sights but when I mounted a scope I found that the scope rail worked loose after several shots.

Removing the scope ramp, by undoing the screw in the front of the ramp, I found that the rear lug on the scope ramp is missing.

As the scope rail appears to be made of an alloy [?] I'm guessing that someone has made a botch job of dismantling the rifle in the past !

Anyone know where I can get hold of a scope rail, new or second hand ?

    Thanks, hopefully ......

I have never removed the scope ramp on a b55 ,but from your description it sounds very similar to the BSA Maxi grip ramp.
Can you put up a link to some photos of it, topside and underside.?

The under side of a BSF scope rail has a key way that intrudes into the cylinder. I suspect the same as you in that someone has tried to remove the main spring without removing the scope rail first!

    scope ramp

Thanks, hopefully ...... Just looked on chambers site, no listing for the ramps, parts not even numbered, if the lug is all that prevents dismantling as a last resort you could araldite the ramp in place after degreasing the ramp & cylinder properly,if needed a little heat would enable it to be removed again. At least you'd be able to use it scoped up then.

    Bsf 55

    Thanks for the replies,

I think some one has been rather brutal in removing the scope rail , previously !

Araldite had crossed my mind [as a final resort] but I'd rather try and get hold of a good scope rail [ or was that Holy Grail].

In the meantime I can still enjoy the 55 with the iron sights.

    Once again;
    Thanks in anticipation

Good luck. I think you did well to get the rifle, they're like rocking horse poop to find up north.

Chambers dose some, but not allways in stock. Beleve they bought a load of spares up from some old gunshop in Scandanavia.
