A few nice rifles
AFAIK there was less than 200 Vixens produced. Value? Depending on condition I dont think £300 is too wide of the mark.

It came out in 1979, there were a few articles on this 'supergun', the first 'tuned out of the box' springer. They didn't really go into details of accuracy or anything, just that it was '11.9 ft/lbs' which is all that mattered in those days.
Its not as good as a Venom tuned one, but it is a nice rifle and a good effort for the late 70s.
I've emailed you something which may be of interest to the address in your profile.

I have the same advert in my old AGW mags but I seriously doubt the number claimed - they do not come up for sale very often .
When they hit the streets in 1979, the Mk1 Vulcan was launched with the same power output advertised for £32.99 as opposed to £170. shortly after came the Hw80 and Original 45 all making 11.9999999999 Ft/LBS
I think 200 is much nearer given that Normay folded when BSF went bust and Bimoco pellets the same way.
Anyway, I plan to keep hold of my HW35E vixen .177 for a while yet.![]()
Once again I have to agree with you.It took me years to find a s/h Vixen, I couldn't afford a new one when they first came out
and since then they have been like buses.
The last one I managed to pick up was a .22 Deluxe with Kassnar 3-9x40 scope & Apel(?) 2 piece mounts for £150!

The bottom one in this photo, an Export I got from my local dealers for £120!!! http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Airs...ml?sort=6&o=52 but it came without any sights.![]()

Thanks guys for all your help , very interesting reading think I might get her striped and regreasedstill can't believe how accurate she is for 35 years old .
I would strongly recommend the use of a spring compressor and caution.Unlike most 'normal' '35s the Vixens I own have a lot of spring pre load. Apart from that the '35 is a doddle to strip. This may be of help: http://smg.photobucket.com/user/Airs...?sort=6&page=1

That's the big question Dave
The Airgunaid G80 was advertised as being as powerfull as the law allows (12ftlsbs ?) and the swept volume of the G80 is enough to get 12ftlbs.
So until I manage to get my brother's Airgunaid G80 off him and strip it we may never know what the'll do --- one day.
All the best Mick
Yes Mick I badly wanted one and had done as many odd jobs as a kid to get one, then Eddies shop was destroyed by fire. My own G80 is a 1978 series 1 in .177, its doing all of 8 ftlbs but with Crossman Domes it is easily one of the most consistent springer I have ever used, we are talking less than 5 fps variation over 30 shotsthats better than some pcp,s out there. I paid all of £25.00 a few years ago from Jeans Military Memories ( remember a great shop). I have allso searched for the SP5 for what seems years, the only person who seems to have one is Gareth WB and I dont think He will ever part with one of His 2:eek The Vixen took me near 30 years to find, but it was worth the wait, I did have 2 of them but had to sell one a few years back to help pay for a big job on my old car and regret it. So if another Vixen comes up then She will find a warm /safe home in my gun room in one of my racks. atb Dave
