Mercury, Help reqd in dating it

Hello all you mercury buffs, I have two Mercury's one is stamped in the usual place under the barrel block with a prefix letters ZB, which makes it a MKII 74-78, I am unable to find the serial number on the other, it looks identical to the MKII but there is no semblance of a serial number.
Did BSA put serial numbers anywhere else on the Mercury's?

I once had a late mark BSA Airsporter (.177) which had to go back to BSA for a major repair. It came back with a new cylinder/barrel assembly which had no serial number

Mines a ZB prefix( ZB17234) and stamped under the barrel block like yours. Not sure they stamped the numbers elsewhere?
